I think he just needs to be informed of wiki conventions regarding editing and intellectual property. He keeps referring to the example being debated as though he owns it.

I rarely visit the forums to avoid the cynicism ooze.

Maybe but his attitude already is pretty similar to problem editors.

Reminds me of a guy who got pissed about the wiki and his examples being contested, so he went through and tried to delete every line he'd ever edited onto the wiki, calling them his property.

Like Westrim, I don't think it's an Edit War quite yet.

While I don't agree with the degree to which thatsnumberwang seems to be taking it, I can understand a troper being partial to entries they've made. I know the tropes and works I've launched get a little closer look from me than those that have been done by others.

FWIW, I changed my original planned post in the show's discussion page to a note to look here.

That might be, but it is not how it works on this wiki. You don't get any special rights on the examples or tropes you write.

Write him a pm regarding how editing examples work on this wiki and put the example in question in question on the discussion page.

I didn't mean that's how it is, just that I can understand that emotional response (if, again, not to the degree he seems to be RAEGing about it). Understanding doesn't necessarily mean agreement, though, and certainly doesn't in this case.

Anyway, for now I think we should wait for the response (if any) before sharpening the headsman's axe. :P

Eddie swooped in, did some clean up, and left a note to read the Example Indentation In Trope Lists. He seems to have cleaned up some of the problem edits.
