Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Non-zero chance this is the cut reason bug and that's not the actual reason the page was cut. Can't find it in the cut history to confirm/deny that, though.
But yeah, as a rule, if something used to exist and then goes away, we don't cut the page for that reason.
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing. Thanks, Wingedcatgirl, I didn't know about that bug. Is there any way to restore the original page? Or view the latest cut reason?
You could hunt this record, but it is not easily organized.
I think this was cut before I was given the moderator tools, but I would probably have agreed. The reason is bad: Copies are given out on a case-by-case basis by at least one person who saved all main fics, two of the side stories, and Small Things. Contact missemilyliesmith means we could have gotten access to the fic anyway (Gmail account if anyone wants to try).
Three big problems with the work were A) X Just X context, B) lack of crosswicking, and C) the description focused more on how to find the fic than what the fic is about. So we had an article on how to find a fic that totes has these tropes, you couldn't read the work directly to verify them, and you wouldn't find the page from any tropes.
I wouldn't be opposed to recreating the page, but someone had better find the fic first, then they'd need to put actual context down. Edited by crazysamaritan Link to TRS threads in project mode here.
One month later happened across this and hoo boy this account is old but: that’s me! I couldn’t find anywhere that they were being hosted and wasn’t (still not) comfortable with hosting them given the authors wishes, but yeah, email’s active, I send them when people ask. I think I added that email a few years back and never was quite sure of the etiquette, I mostly use the account to check histories and don’t really interact much.
If you can't or don't want to host the fanfic somewhere, then we can't have a trope page for it. Works need to be verifiable.
Also, if you're okay with emailing the fic to anyone who asks, why aren't you okay with putting it on your Google Drive or something like that? That would be a perfectly valid method of hosting it that would only allow people who see the trope page to read it. I could understand not wanting to put someone else's fic on AO3 or FF.net, but Google Drive doesn't let you just browse everyone's files.
Edited by Serac^ Well, a normal page at least. We can have a Darth Wiki page.

Why was the trope page for the fanfic Agent Loki: International Man of Mayhem removed? The reason given says "Work existed, but wiped from the internet. There is a link to download, but without being certain of the downloading security, it's inadvisable to use." It's true that the author removed the fanfic from the internet but I see no reason why it can't still have a trope page. If a link was the problem, wouldn't it make more sense to just delete the link instead of removing the entire page?
