I've Seen It a Million Times...

If not for this anchor I'd be dancing between the stars. At least I can try to write better vampire stories than Twilight.

You answered your own question: Mood Whiplash.

I wouldn't mind failure so much, if I didn't fail so much.

That's more broad than what I'm thinking of.

Maaaaybe Big-Lipped Alligator Moment?

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.

^ I can see it as being a kind of Big-Lipped Alligator Moment, but instances of what I’m talking about may have actual significance.

Mood Whiplash may be broad, but it covers the example you gave.

Looking for a trope for one specific instance is the definition of The Same, but More Specific.

It's definitely not "one specific instance".

Sounds like an inversion of HA HA HA—No

Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.

I think it'd be a sub-trope of Mood Whiplash. If it's not there, I think it could be put on TLP.

For every low there is a high.
