I'd say they're better than nothing, but have been replaced if people decide that direct scans are available (like Literature.Ghost House 1979). Let's face it, not everyone has the best equipment available, though there could also be photos in the search engine results.

I didn't see anything on Administrivia.How To Pick A Good Image, so just double-checking if a picture taken of a book's artwork where it's taken at angle so the page fold is clearly visible within the picture is fine or not.
