Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Um... Are you trying to promote your fanfic on this site?
Not really, I just thought I try making a tvtropes page for all the tropes that occurred so far. It's also my first time making a page for the wiki.
Edited by JamesTCatHousepetsHow to Create a Work's Page can get you started on how to make the page. As this is for your own fanfic, I suggest you take particular note of the following (under Frequently asked questions)
Yeah, sure, go ahead. You're allowed to trope your own works. Just make sure you understand that once the page is out there, you won't have any control or ownership over it — anyone is allowed to edit it, and any editor will have the same rights and privileges as you. This is why it's a bad idea to make Word of God statements for your own work on its wiki page. You are also not allowed to create or add items to a YMMV subpage or related subpages, and you may not review your own work or add recommendations for your own work.
Also be mindful that The Fic May Be Yours, but the Trope Page Is Ours, which the Laconic sums up as "It may be your work, but that doesn't mean you have the right to mess with your work's page."
Also be sure to avoid Zero-Context Examples, as it's a pitfall I see with a lot of fanfic pages.
Edited by sgamer82Also, the namespace is miscapitalized.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool. All right. I will take that in mind. Just as soon as I wake up later.
I trimmed the description a bit. Don't use the work description as way of expressing what we call Word of God (things like "this has been in the author's mind"; "he plans to work on it" etc.) Also, never use First Person Writing on the wiki, and do not add things that are irrelevant to the article and this wiki's mission ("I need some sleep now"). You should write the article as if you were a regular troper; a fan and a reader of the work with no special insight about the work or plans for future chapters/instalments. Just write what can be verified by others.
For any future pages you may create: our rules are clear that a wiki page needs three tropes, otherwise the page is considered a stub, and if not improved soon, it gets cut and removed from the wiki.
I can't help but note that you shouldn't expect that other tropers will work on the page of your fanfic. Other tropers can join your effort, of course, but it's actually not very common, especially if it's a work page created by its author. The truth is that only very popular works (like current hit series, recent films or video game franchises) get attention from multiple editors. This being the case, it's the launcher's responsibility to make the page look neat and as complete as possible.
Since the namespace is miscapitalized, as was mentioned, you had better cutlist the page and start anew.
I hope this helps a bit. We welcome new editors and we appreciate new content, but we are also particular about our rules and standards.
Also check out Wiki Word and Text-Formatting Rules - that page has a few issues with formatting (some of the entries lack bullet points, for example).
If you want to promote the fanfic, the best way to do that by Cross Wicking.
"It's just a show; I should really just relax"Kaizoku Sentai Power Rangers Kingkaiger has still multiple issues.
- Its namespace is still miscapitalized.
- Zero-Context Example: All ZCE have been commented out. There are only two examples with context and visible to readers, so the article is still considered a stub.
- The page has not been indexed.
OP/creator of the page has been sent notifiers for indexing, ZCE and stub articles.
Sorry, I think I may have jumped the gun on making the page. I am trying to work on that page, yet I still need to work on my fanfiction.
I have been trying to get this TV Tropes page to my fanfic up and going but I need some sleep as I have been up all night writing
This hyperlink will take you to the Fanfic Page. It may not be a head start since this is my first works page but we have to make it thrive.
