That one is debatable. I read a bit of the manga so, considering how prominent Xerxes is and how much screen time he gets with the main trio, it can be argued that Xerxes is part of the main cast. That being said, I never reached the end of the manga yet so I don't know if Xerxes got Demoted to Extra down the line.

I'm certainly not denying that Break is a member of the main cast. That's undeniable. I would still argue, however, that Break doesn't hold the same level of importance as the main trio. The other three characters in the "main characters" folder are Oz, Alice, and Gilbert. Placing Break with them seems a little bit odd, especially when characters like Vincent (who are also members of the main cast) are not in this folder.

It usually depends on what role he plays in the story. There are three types of characters: main characters (the protagonist and other characters who join in on their journey), supporting characters (characters who are important but only influence the plot occasionally or indirectly and aren't really a part of the protagonist's group), and minor characters (characters who are only in the background and make one-time appearances or cameos). With that being said, characters like Sharon and Vincent are no doubt supporting characters because they only indirectly affect the plot by helping (or hindering in Vincent's case) the trio from the sidelines. This is where it gets tricky for Xerxes. While he doesn't really tag along with the trio, he does show up at major events they get into and gets involved in them directly, and if I recall, he even has his own character arc related to the Abyss much like the trio. He practically borders on being a main character and a supporting character. If you ask me, unless I'm missing something towards the end of the manga where Xerxes becomes Out of Focus, I would say that he's still part of the main cast. He has enough relevance to qualify as one.

I definitely understand what you're saying. The only thing I'm thinking is that as the manga progresses, Vincent becomes at least as influential as Break, plot-wise. I suppose the difference is that Break was present as an important character from the very beginning, but Vincent gained importance rapidly and by the end is extremely plot-relevant. The reason I'm mentioning this is because I don't think many people consider Vincent a main character.

Based on what you've said, I'll probably keep Break in the "main characters" folder. I just wanted to bring this up before making a final decision.
