Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
First thing, probably send them a P.M. or somesuch asking for elaboration on their reasoning, or get them into the discussion tab of the work, possibly bringing in other people knowledgeable about the work in question. Best to avoid an edit war.
Alright, done the first and will do the second shortly. It's been forever since I used TV tropes, so I'm not actually sure how to link people anymore though.
I cannot speak for this series at all. I don't follow it. However the wikipedia page states that they use "both male and female pronouns for himself; despite this, he has stated that he is a man 'in both body and soul'" Has the author just changed their mind?
Edited by jjjj2 You can only write so much in your forum signature. It's not fair that I want to write a piece of writing yet it will cut me off in the midI'll try to keep this as concise as possible because there's a lot in the books and I don't want to flood everyone's chat. I'd like to cite the sources, but I lack them at the moment.
"He is a man in body and soul" This is a statement Ferris says in Arc 4.
However, In arc 5, Which was written after Arc 4, The Character Capella brings this into doubt, in fact saying she's lying. She even offers her the chance to get effectively magical GRS, which she doesn't argue against wanting, and chose to stay silent.
Secondly, this line "He is a man..." Is was updated in the Light Novel, which the author states is the Final version of the web novel and in the Light novel, it says "This outfit reflects my body and spirit" referring to the girl's outfit she was wearing.
As for Pronouns, Ferris in japanese prefers female pronouns, and she even calls herself Ferri-Chan, which I'm told [Own Name]+Chan is often used by childish women. Overall however, Ferris will call herself a girl if she can do so, as in the novel's she's introduced herself as a girl to several people, Including Ram, one of Subaru's allies, Wilhelm, one of her closest allies, alongside characters like Garfiel and Ricardo. She also goes into the girl's bathroom when she can, even showering with the other girls. She only calls herself male when she is forced to, as in Volume EX 1, she says along the lines of this to herself when a woman confronts her about her gender.
In my opinion, the author set her up to look like a crossdresser, but even in her introduction he hinted that she was more likely trans, (As she gets very upset at being called by her birthname, akin to a deadname.) And this gets built up from Arcs 3 to Arc 5 before being confirmed in EX 1.
Edited by SneekshionI got a Pm from the user, at the time they had told me something that was like
-The character didn't say "I want to be a girl"
But, while the character didn't states "I want to be a girl" they are saying "I am a girl" wouldn't this be the same thing?
- They also argued that the passage can be interpreted as Ferris wanting to be feminine instead of a girl.
But the thing is, it again it still has her say she wants to be a girl, with the narrator confirming that she really believes that the words she's saying are true.
Edited by SneekshionI'm hesitant to recommend replacing what they removed, as that seems to fall under edit war territory, but they seem to be splitting hairs here. Possibly go to the discussion page on the work and see what other people knowledgeable about the work would think. Based on what I've seen however, I'd say it shouldn't have been cut.
OP, please edit to paraphrase PM contents. Do not copy/paste them as-is.
If needed, mods can verify PM's privately, but the contents should never be posted publicly.
Will edit, sorry,
So a while ago I had asked if I should change the page of the character Felis Argyle from Re:Zero to make note that she is a transgender girl, which the story revealed in the prequel volume Ex.1 Dream of the Lion King, and the general consensus was that I should go ahead and do so, and to also cite the post in my reasoning.
I even have the page where she reveals it to the readers, in a scene where its revealed she's been praying to be a girl for six years. https://imgur.com/a/3pNo8Wo
Just right now I found that the character page was altered, by the user Domadordedios, removing any reference to Felis being Trans and gendering them as a guy. They also deleted the Transgender trope, in which this was written.
All of which is true and can be found in the story, mostly within the prequel volume.
The only reason they cite is "Misleading information" without anything else.
What should I do here?
