Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread

It's Theatre.
Bump. I'd like more than one opinion.
If the namespace is Theatre, I'd put it in the Theatre folder.
Theatre
Link to TRS threads in project mode here. It's a fan work. It's a product of the theatre genre, but it's first and foremost a fan work.
Edited by tyrekecorreaTheatre is a medium, not a genre.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.I agree with theatre. Defo not Web Vid as they are recordings of live theatre performances. I can understand the reasoning for Fanwork (cus it is one) but considering the troupe has done original Theatre works as well, Theatre for AVPM (and by extension their other parodies) should remain.
Theatre.
Now that's more clear-cut, thank you.
Theater certainly seems like a genre, because it has a distinct style which people certainly do parody it often enough for it to seem like one, but I guess I get the idea.
On the other hand, it's based parody on another work that isn't theater in its own right and wasn't created wholecloth and so I came to see it as a fan work.
It doesn't seem accurate to have primarily classified A Very Potter Musical as theater based on the outlet which created it and other words which were clearly theater first, just the same as you wouldn't classify anything that comes from a musician as a song just because they're musicians and that's all they've ever created before.
I'm sorry, but you guys just tend to end conversations too quickly, and without considering all the angles of what you discuss.
Because we need to efficiently solve the problems and move on. Ok, so it's a mix between the three. It's a fan work (inspired by a book series). It's a musical that was staged and performed live first (at least I think; I'm not really familiar with it), and musicals fall under theatre. It's also released and available as Web Video. I think I read somewhere a rule that the first format/medium takes precedence though I can't actually find it. BTW, Fanfic/ is only used for written fics.
Do you think it harms something that the namespace currently used is Theatre? There are some rules and guidelines for creating work pages (Namespace, Media Categories, Media Categories FAQ). Do you propose that the page is moved to a different Namespace and then examples sorted into different media folders? If so, you should have convincing arguments, but it can be done if you convince enough people to reach consensus, I think.
Edited by XFllo... why is it theatre if it's a fan work?
I'm genuinely asking because the sole difference between "literature" and "fanfic" is "is it a fan work" so this not following suit doesn't track to me.

I really can't make up my mind on this one:
Should A Very Potter Musical and its sequels, when mentioned on a trope page, go in the "Fan Works", "Theatre" or "Web Videos" folder?
I've seen it put in all three, and I just can't be sure which one is the most appropriate.
