Maybe, except your example happens in the same work that both characters debut in, as a form of Alternate Self.

Diego Brando comes from a sequel that is still in continuity with previous installments despite the cosmic reboot. To my understanding, sequels do not count as adaptations.

But seriously, "alternate universe, alternate name" would cover your concept.

And Jojo from Steel Ball Run onward is explicitly an Alternate Universe.
