If I don't hear anything back, I'll remove the Endgame part on the 18th per Three-Day Rule.
Supported. I don't think the turnaround time for MLP is a year, but the episode leaked back in August, which means this episode was fully animated and finished by that time - it's possible they made some tweaks to how the scene was visually presented to homage Infinity War, but the plan for the calvary coming in would definitely be in place already.
As for the second bit with them ending at a donut shop, while it may be a deliberate reference to Avengers, it's more likely it's a reference to the end of the Season 1 finale where they headed to get donuts after the disastrous gala event. Given that the show can be very on-the-nose with its pop culture references when it wants to be, if they were referencing the Avengers they'd probably just have the ponies eating schwarma, so they were probably homaging Season 1 and not the Avengers
Fwiw there have been some Word of God statements by series director Jim Miller regarding both of these. He states that the Endgame similarity is coincidental whereas he heavily implies the donuts/schwarma reference as intentional.
Edited by iloveserperiorOfficial confirmation. That's enough to act on. Thanks for that.
My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic S9 E25 "The Ending of the End – Part 2"
When you account for Animation Lead Time, which means it's written a year in advance, it could have been planned before Endgame came out for this to shout out to. I assume it's not a Shout out if it was written before what it's allegedly referencing.
Do we remove or keep it if the time is right a the point where we can't tell if it was made before or after what it's shouting out to?
