^ Is Chekhov's Gun limited to objects used as foreshadowing? If so, it's too specific. I'm also referring to things such as throwaway phases that turn out to mean something later.

Unless it's a prequel with a Foregone Conclusion, that's the whole point of foreshadowing: something seems trivial or unimportant when we first see it, and later on we see the significance.
