I guess some people think the Animated Adaptation is more visually-appealing than the original.
If you want to show multiple designs, you can do something like the page image for Doraemon.
I don't think there's a hard-on rule that states character images from manga and light novels should be changed to their anime counterparts when an anime adaptation drops. It just depends on personal preference of the users.
Me, I always prefer to stick with the original manga and light novel art designs because the designs from the anime adaptations can vary wildly.
Correct me if I'm wrong though. This is just me guessing.
Just curious, but I seem to notice that whenever a Manga gets an Anime adaptation, the images in the relevant work page and its subpages (e.g. Characters) get changed to represent the Anime version.
So I wonder, do Anime illustrations get a preference over the Manga version? Or does it depend on the latest adaptation, or what?
