Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
I think the Examples Are Not General rule applies here as for all other tropes.
I did notice the note was removed, but thought the problem had already been dealt with.
I agree that general examples for this usually fall under Jossed and should be listed there.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.Fix Fic has the same General and Specific section split.
Outdated by Canon was created a month ago and it included this note at the bottom of the work page description:
Please, try to list fan work names and avoid using general examples, as those go to Jossed. You can support general examples with fan art however, especially if they follow a trend.
However this was contradicted by the examples themselves, which were divided into General examples and Specific examples.
I brought this up in the discussion page for the trope, and Tomodachi the troper who created the page and note, responded and removed the note. However this doesn't solve the issue in that the examples under General examples violates the Examples Are Not General rule and technically do look like they belong under Jossed rather than this trope.
