Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.

The troper's edit history as well, in case that's needed or wanted.
Edited by sgamer82Suspended Estyvik. Mister Apes is properly curating the page.
That said, I'm cutting and locking it until the film comes out. As much fun as it is to use it to troll for idiots to ban, I'm tired of getting reports about it.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Wouldn't just Locking it been enough?
No, because all the breathless commentary about Internet controversies would remain, and that's exactly what I want to get rid of. It has nothing to do with the work itself. People go apeshit when a fly buzzes across a camera and it's equally irrelevant to tropes.
I wouldn't even care except that we got summoned to moderate this inane bullshit.
Edit: For whatever it's worth, the Captain Marvel trailer is amazing. It's probably the best teaser Disney Marvel has ever put out, and it's got me completely stoked for the film. I went from knowing almost nothing about her to knowing most of her comic backstory from watching reaction videos. And frankly, if more people could think that way and fewer would worry about the "social justice" impacts, I would be much happier.

^What does that have to do with anything in this thread ?
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Continues issues with the YMMV page for Captain Marvel. related thread was locked. I think the deletion reason was fairly worded, although the response & lock to the thread was rude. This was the ATT thread that announced the descision, so Terrialstrasz could've learned why easily.
"Kind", in this case, is synonymous with "professional". The page was cut/locked due to the unprofessional behaviour tropers were expressing, and the objection is that the cut reason is unprofessional as well. (Note my disagreement to this above) Edited by crazysamaritan Link to TRS threads in project mode here.
Kindness is nowhere in the moderator lexicon. Professionalism is, to a certain extent. However, I reserve the right to sound "unprofessional" if it gets a point across. We aren't reading How to Win Friends and Influence People; we're moderating a wiki.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"One would think that dealing with people in a professional and fair-minded manner and avoiding overt hostility would be part of a moderator's skill set.
Sure. And knowing when not to avoid overt hostility is also part of the skill set. Like with you, for example. You're overtly hostile to us and to me in particular. I think it's time we did something about that. In a professional and fair-minded manner.

On YMMV.Captain Marvel 2019, Estvyk added a (in my opinion needless) comparison to people saying Superman should smile more.
It was removed by Mister Apes-a-lot with the edit reason "Flame bait disguised as "neutrality"
Estyvik readded it with the edit reason "People complaining about DCEU Superman's lack of emoting is well documented" which doesn't address the removal reason in the slightest.
History here.
