Often part of a Failure Gambit, Wounded Gazelle Warcry, or a Wounded Gazelle Gambit.

Is there a trope for a sub/inversion of Don't Create a Martyr, where instead of refraining from killing an enemy or else his side will fight harder, an ally is sacrificed (to all appearances killed by the enemy) to make his side fight harder? Sometimes crosses over with Uriah Gambit if the killed person was an obstacle to the planner's ambition in some way.
