Ho Yay is romantic subtext between two characters of the same gender, Foe Yay is romantic subtext between two enemies, regardless of their genders. Heterosexual Life-Partners isn't romantic, it's just bromance taken Up To Eleven.

Also keep in mind the differences between Ho Yay (in-universe) and Ho Yay Shipping (audience reactions) along with other Yay subtypes.
