Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread

That seems like a shoehorn. The trope is about someone that basically embraces the fact they're a bad guy and are "yes. I am a bad guy. Get used to it."
If we never actually interact directly with the organization, we can't know that unless they release evil press releases.
I think they might be shooting for Obviously Evil?

Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry PratchettTo be completely fair, fasoman's question is a bit leading and his statements are slightly inaccurate.
While we (the audience) have never encountered any but two of the organization's members, Talon as organization is well-known to be evil and despicable; one of their most prominent members is a sadistic sniper who proudly announces whom she works for and when asked why she would assassinate a peace-loving religious figure (thus dooming the world to a destructive race war between humans and machines), she laughs and narrates that killing him made her feel alive.
The backstory to said sniper character also states that she was once the wife of their greatest opponent: a beloved member of a peace-keeping taskforce who made sure that their atrocities didn't go unpunished. They eliminated him by kidnapping his wife, turning her into an assassin, and then allowing their enemies to "rescue" her.
Granted, he's right that we don't know their motivations, but the rest of what fasoman said just wasn't correct.
Edited by NubianSatyressSorry, i was in a hurry and i hadn't had the time to explain Talon.
Yes, the two playable agents from Talon (Reaper and Widowmaker) are both Card Carrying Villains (Hell, the guy calls himself Reaper) and they proudly announce how evil they are. Talon has also a pretty nasty history with Overwatch too, being the one behind several terrorist attacks and kidnappings.
But my main concern with the example there is that it feels like a Stealh Take That! against Vishkar, another corporation that is shady but has a different approach at what they do. (Basically they take over impoverished cities and they promise their inhabitants of a better future with them, only to enforce their philosophy on them and use those same people as cheap labor force)
That's more or less my problem with the entry, and i wanted to know if someone (in this case, Talon as a whole) can be considered a Card-Carrying Villain even if we didn't see the group in it's entirety
Edited by fasoman1996 Uni catI don't know too much about Overwatch (and I don't plan on learning), but I do know that writing a trope entry for an entire company based on two of its employees is, at best, pretty idiotic.
Again, I agree with you. I was simply playing Devil's Advocate and giving the full context so that others can make fully-informed decisions.
And I agree. Stay away from Overwatch. Stay far... FAR away.
Edited by NubianSatyressAs someone who's into the Overwatch story, no, Talon doesn't count as Card-Carrying. Both Talon and Vishkar are ambiguous in motive at this stage of the story, even if their methods are questionable. They're shown to be not as morally upright as Overwatch or its agents, but they certainly don't tout themselves as a whole as "we're definitely bad, big deal".
Can we consider someone a Card-Carrying Villain when we aren't really sure of their motives or we didn't even see them in person?
Because i keep hearing people in Overwatch that keep calling Talon that and ,while it is a Nebulous Evil Organization, we haven't see their motives and i think whoever wrote that is jumping to conclusions
