Ooh okay so I don't think it's Eerie Indiana, that show never really came to Australia, but The Zack Files is looking very promising! Now that I think about it, I would have been younger at the time and the kids would have appeared older to me - I'll give it a proper look and confirm for you whether or not it's the one!

Could it be an episode of Goosebumps, the Haunting Hour, or Are You Afraid of the Dark? Are You Afraid of the Dark is a Canadian-American TV series.
lol I will be amazed if anybody knows this show.
I think it was one of those classic kids drama shows, centred around your stereotypical, scummy teenage boy of the 90s (possibly american, you know a bit like Frankie Muniz) and other, peripheral characters.
I remember it had a 'Round the Twist' feel. It could have been totally serious, but I get the feeling it had mild occult themes. I vaguely recall this one episode where this scary, black, spiny model of a forest or something the kid has put on the desk near his window begins to glow red from the inside, triggering something evil, I dunno.
The look of the show is very 90s, of course, and I think the evil glowing was intercut with footage of the kid running through a park? I saw this show maybe seven years ago on the ABC in Australia.
Hope you guys know what this is, it's going to be a hard one to find (and really funny if it actually is Round the Twist - I haven't ruled that out, but it's unlikely)!
