Both of you going back and forth three or four times on The Casanova and Really Gets Around is editing warring and doesn't help anything. Specifically you added them twice.

It seems that you got yourself into an edit war there.

That's unfortunate. I made a discussion page entry, which if I understand edit bans correctly, they can not respond to. It should have been made a couple steps back, but Mr Unsmiley shouldn't get punished for being involved longer, since from their perspective it's likely three different conversations (one with Discar about Really Gets Around, one with me about the same trope, and one with me about The Casanova). I'd prefer that they get the chance to respond.

I rarely visit the forums to avoid the cynicism ooze.

That's what the edit banned/suspended thread is for. People get to explain that they didn't understand or hadn't read the rules, got over-excited, or whatever other argument they make. If you read a few pages, you can see that people who are polite and endeavour to improve often get their privileges back. The important thing is to read the Administrivia pages, not repeat the same mistakes, and never be afraid to ask questions.
