Seems like a combination of Put on a Bus + Death Is Cheap.
Put on a Bus is about the out-of-universe fact of the character being written out indefinitely but with room to return. The method could be anything. Should there be a trope for every possible reason?
Recovering from injuries/illness, got a new job, got a promotion, visiting family, going on vacation, becoming the Hero of Another Story...
I was thinking of King Sombra's defeat in "The Crystal Empire" two-parter, where while he was technically "killed", a piece of his horn was left behind, hinting that he might return in a future season. This was confirmed in the "Beginning of the End" two-parter, when Grogar resurrected him for his Legion of Doom using that piece.

A character dies, but since the setting allows for resurrection, it's hinted that they might be revived in the future. It's sorta like a fatal version of Put on a Bus, but the death is temporary unlike Bus Crash.
