Pretty sure you can't unilaterally change captions that much regardless. Perhaps the Caption thread may be of use in terms of that example.

Just reading through their edits on that UN page and they feel super Single-Issue Wonk-y in regards to Irish Nationalism. Reading further, a ton of their edits seem to be very anti-Irish Nationalists. ROCEJ indeed.

Also, Edit War? On UsefulNotes. The Troubles:

Text since 2016: "killing random Catholic civilians in retaliation for attacks by IRA partisans."

Lynda Oct '22: "killing suspected IRA member in retaliation for IRA murders."

Trend Warrior 101 Mar 21st: "killing actual civilians in retaliation for IRA murders."

Lynda today: "killing IRA members in retaliation for IRA murders." (edit reason: "The FRU was a military unit, not MI 5, the whole point of collusion was that the Loyalists killed the actual IRA RATHER than civilians. HER")

(As an aside, I'm wondering if Irish independence-related UN pages might be too sensitive to remain unlocked...)

Honestly I think a mod needs to get involved. These seem to be written in a really ROCE Dj breaking manner and theirs an edit war.

Should their edits be reverted? Some of theirs are Headscratchers that are the only post on the subpage where they pose and answer their own question simultaneously about why something bad has happened in [a work about Ireland] and why it's due to Nationalists/Catholics.

Yeah, those edits need to be removed. Feel free to revert them.

Sent four Headscratchers to the cutlist because they're just bad-faith fake questions that are the only entries on their respective pages. Lynda's anti-ROI/Irish Catholic bent spans many pages over the past couple years and I'm not informed enough on the subject to be able to edit those to remove the clear bias. Hopefully someone more versed in Irish politics will take an interest in this.

Irish person here with some knowledge on The Troubles (although my memory's been a bit rocky as I haven't studied it since leaving school). The way those edits seemed to be phrased feels, particularly the last one, read to me like Loyalist apologia. The FRU wasn't MI5 but had ties to them, being military intelligence. But I can argue that the British army in Northern Ireland were involved in the deaths of civilians, such as during the Springhill Massacre and during Operation Motorman. Neither the Provisional IRA or the Loyalists/British military are innocent, but Catholic citizens were killed.

I'm British (see username), but I think The Irish Question is unnecessarily long. Namely that it says the consensus is 1801-1922 but there's stuff from long after 1922. Later stuff could go into UsefulNotes. The Irish Revolution, UsefulNotes. The Troubles or UsefulNotes.Brexit when that circus is over. There's also a few redundant statements in there that make the page a chore to read.

Is it okay if I start reverting their edits?

I've just reverted Lynda's edits on the UsefulNotes. The Irish Question, citing this ATT.
