Fully agreed, this one carries some unfortunate implications, not to mention being extremely bloated and seeming very firmly opinionated.
thirded.
Yes, I agree that this does seem highly questionable.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup Of Complaining | Troper WallI agree that it deserves to be removed. For the record, it was added five years ago by a single troper, with only minor adjustments (such as formatting and spelling) made since. All in all, it comes across as only one person's opinion, and it should be cut.
For the record, it was added in 2017 by Subject Five.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup Of Complaining | Troper WallUsually I wouldn't raise an issue over YMMV stuff. But when it gets into really...sketchy racial territory, that's when I kinda wanna run it by folks
Honestly cut it. This entry makes some really gross points.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Agreed on cutting it.
Looks about settled but... ugggg, cut!
A wall of text arguing against not only a work's main character, but suggesting Blacks were "well-off" as enslaved people. Sigh... it must go!
Thanks, guys. I'm gonna cut it.
Didn't even realize the horrendous implications of derisively calling him by his literal slave name at the end, ugh
Okay, so usually I'm good leaving YMMV entries alone even if I disagree, but this seemed...a touch disturbing. The entry:
Okay, I'm not sure I need to point out how...problematic this is, but it's essentially victim-blaming a slave in the American south for...fighting back? For trying to start a slave rebellion? And nevermind the really, really problematic language of "passive and well off slaves"
I kind of think this one needs to be stricken.
