The TVTropes Trope Finder is where you can come to ask questions like "Do we have this one?" and "What's the trope about...?" Trying to rediscover a long lost show or other medium but need a little help? Head to Media Finder and try your luck there. Want to propose a new trope? You should be over at You Know, That Thing Where.
This is a common feature of Warp Whistle. From its article:
- In most cases, destinations only become unlocked after the player visits them the old-fashioned way first.
^Yeah, I was was wondering if there was a broader trope for that particular feature, though. Went ahead and created the draft: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/discussion.php?id=ucwq59w85l1klctv57k8cq2w
The general trope for that limitation is Warp Whistle
The visualization aspect could be independently tropeable, however; left further input on on the draft.
Wondering before I create a TLP for it. It's a common restriction on both Teleportation and fast-travel systems in open-world games where you can only go places you've been and/or can clearly visualize.
