Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread

They're allowed on the main page if they aren't on a character page.
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.That. Redundancies aren't appreciated but it's better to have them on the main page than nowhere.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.I'm not sure if you teo understood my question. I'm talking about including tropes on the work's main page even when they're already listed on the character sheet for the respective characters; is that allowed? Those are specifically the examples I've seen tropers remove (on the main page of course).
It's not technically unallowed but we don't want redundancy.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessSo, if you want to go through the effort to remove the redundant tropes on the main page, you’re welcome to.
There has been some debate on what a “character trope” is though, and there is a thread for that.
Edited by antenna_earsWhat if the trope would apply to multiple characters though?
If it is a recurring theme in a work I think we might list it on the main page as well as long as it is worded accordingly, i.e. it is not copy-pasted from Character Sheets but is rather a summary explaining why the work uses this trope so much.
But there is currently no hard rule for that, and others may disagree.
Similar question: what about if a story or character trope is on a recap page for a specific episode. Would that trope then have to be removed from either the main page (story trope) or character page (character trope) to avoid redundancy?
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading. If a story trope is on a recap page, then yep, it should be removed from the main page. A characterization trope, though, should be on the character page, and not the recap page.
That's is if the story trope only applies to one episode, and not a recurring element for entire work, right?
Yeah, exactly. If it only applies to one episode, it goes on that episode's recap page.
Just wondering, are characterization tropes allowed on the main page of a work? I've seen some tropers remove them on account of we already have the character sheets for them, but I've seen many instances of character tropes on the main pages, so I'm not sure what's allowed or not?
