It's more surprising because there's a clip from it on the little in-between bits with the numbers than because it's really, really bad.
I have to say, were the Chick's closing comments part of a speech or something, I would've given a standing ovation. Seriously.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Well, I've noticed that a lot of times, the stuff in the "in betweens" ''isn't in the countdown. I've come to see it as kind of an honorable mention slot.
:smug:I kinda liked Mulan 2. It actually showed what sort of character Shang is.
I think that was the first time I've ever seen pissed Chick. XDDDD
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987Also I think Cinderella 3 is pretty good in that it made Cinderella work her ass for her good ending.
i liked the Aladdin and lion king sequels.
Lion King 2 has really good animation. Definitely above straight-to-VHS quality. I was annoyed to see a short clip of it when the Chick talked about the animation sucking.
However, I'm not one to judge a movie by animation. As such, I can say that The Return of Jaffar, Lion King 2 and Lion King 3 are all good movies.

1 1/2 you mean?

It was the third Lion King movie released. Ergo, The Lion King 3 is the least confusing name for it in casual conversation.
Also, it was released and marketed as The Lion King 3: Hakuna Matata in some markets, which makes that title equally valid.
Furthermore (and on a mostly unrelated note), "mid-quel" is a crappy word invented by fools. Interquel is the proper word for a story taking place in between or in the middle of past installments.
As I've stated before, I did like the songs in Lion King II by Lebo M much more than the songs from the Original Movie done by Elton John.
"He Lives in You" is fantastic and "Not one of Us" is one of the best songs from a Disney movie IMHO. I also prefer "Upendi" to it's original counterpart (Which happens to be "Hakuna Matata" of all songs).
"My Lullaby" and "Love will find a Way" are much harder to place on the rating scale. There is no denying that "Be Prepared" is a better Villain Song than "My Lullaby", but the lyrics of "My Lullaby" are so god-damn twisted that I can't help that they make the song sound a slight more threatning that "Be Prepared". The fact that Suzanne Pleshette also sounded a lot more emotive in "My Lullaby" than Jeromy Irons in "Be Prepared" could've helped. "Can you Feel the Love Tonight" is also a better song than "Love will find a Way", yet the sheer sentimental value and, to me, sincere feeling of "Love will find a Way" makes it feel more like a genuine love song than "Can you feel the Love Tonight".
The only one one that I prefer more is "I just can't wait to be King" to "We are One" (Though we are one is a damn good song with a strong moral) if by the terms that I adore everything about that song (Charity Savoy's singing DEAR GOD -2 points). But comparing the two is like comparing Apples with Oranges (Even "Upendi" had the same upbeat, laidback tone that "Hakuna Matata" had)
Well, my two cents about LKII songs.

I'm having to learn to pay the price"We Are One" is fantastic... until the kid starts singing.
Sorry, no thanks. No ear-rape for me today. If you had Liquid Snake sing the whole song, it'd probably be my second or third most favourite song in the Lion King trilogy.

"He Lives in You" is fantastic, no doubt about that... but it's taken right from the Broadway musical.

Anyone who assigns themselves loads of character tropes is someone to be worried about.Interesting story about "He Lives in You". It was originally an Cut Song from "Lion King", much like "Morning Report" was (and for other movies "Human Again" from Beauty and the Beast, "Never Smile at a Crocodile" from Peter Pan, "Snuff Out the Light" from The Emperor's New Groove or "I'm Odd" from Alice in Wonderland).
It was then put on the "Rhythm of the Pride Lands" CD, the producers of the Musical liked it so much they put it into the Musical.
Then when the sequel rolled around, the guys decided "Hey, let's catch lightning in a bottle twice" and the used it for Kiara's presentation.
Still, it's a Lebo M original. Which is why I put it in the LKII folder instead of LK because the LK was score mainly made up of Hans Zimmer's EXCELLENT instumentals and Elton John (No dissin' on the man, he wrote 'It's Tough To Be a God' after all).
Thankfully, she only gets two lines.

I'm having to learn to pay the priceI do believe Hercules will be the Disney film Doug hates the most out of any of the Disneycember entries! I am puzzled why it didn't make his list of Movies I Hates But Everyone Else Loves.
Because not everyone else loves it. There are a fair amount of people who don't like Hercules (or anything Disney makes for that matter, but that's their loss) and even a lot of fans consider it "meh" to "it's good" at best.
For the record, I'm one of the ones who likes it, but understands the issues people have with it.

I just really love Meg. And like the Chick said, hers is the only song I can really remember.
"I Won't Say" is the song out of the entire movie that could play on an alternative rock station and won't feel out of place.
Aw! Roses is awesome. I hope she comes back soon.
Has anyone else noticed that, with the exception of the Chick, the girls on the site tend to have much more upbeat personas than the guys? Just an observation.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Hagan.
And yes, I know you said "tends." But there really aren't all that many girls on the site to begin with. I think all the major ones except JO were in the Chick's Little Mermaid review.

Yeah, considering I singled Chick out I should've mentioned Hagan too.
And yeah, their numbers may be smaller, but I don't see how that's a factor.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. In that there are less of them to cover different temperaments. Outside of Team NChick themselves, there's MarzGurl, Roses, Hagan, JO, and Lupa. That's pretty much the female population of the site.
EDIT: Oh, and Liz. She joined after the Little Mermaid review, which is where I confirmed my numbers.

Kat? Dena?
And the guys, as I mentioned, all seem to have the same disposition (if radically different personas)—somewhere between pissed off and mad as hell. That's a factor too. There's plenty of them to cover different dispositions.
It just seems weird to me that the guys default to angry and the girls (besides the exceptions listed), default to happy.

I was under the impression that Pocahontas II wasn't that bad. How many did Lindsay do? 10? 15? There are definitely many much worse Disney sequels than Pocahontas II.
