Sorry, I'm just a realist - and truth hurts me just as much. I'd love see Disney fix up this trainwreck of a film and turn it into something better than it turned out, TBH with you. Too bad Disney has other things to do than satisfy our wishes of the past...
New Web Browser, same old Shokew.Does anyone know where this picture is from◊?
Here's something that's on my mind and it got me thinking.
If one show has a crossover with another show and the first show decides on straight-up Breaking the Fourth Wall and mocks the writers of the second show, that doesn't count as Biting-the-Hand Humor, does it? It counts as a Take That!, right?
(In example, suppose I have a show about robots and it crosses over with, say, Teen Titans Go. At some point, one of the main characters of my show straight up says the writers of TTG suck for not having a good enough idea about how the Titans actually tick. Does that count as a "biting the hand that feeds you" moment or a "take that" moment?)
Oh yeah, and suppose the writers of my show are writing the crossover.
That was sort of just sad overall. But I'm happy for Meatwad at least.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Kind of a bittersweet ending. Though, mostly just a sad one.
I just saw The Chipmunk Adventure for the first time, of all things. I'd seen bits and pieces of it from times it aired on the Disney Channel back in the 90's (somehow I always managed to come in on the same scenes...funny how that works sometimes) You know what? It's actually pretty good. The animation is very strong, the script is charming and clever. I was actually pretty surprised to see all the folks who worked on it, like Disney's Glen Keane, and Laura Zingarelli, who was a character designer and storyboard artist for most of Ralph Bakshi's films since Lord of the Rings (as well as Titan AE). I wouldn't call it a great movie, but it's a really good one, a fun one. Quite a whole lot better than it needed to be.

There's this one foreign animated movie I can't remember the title to.
It was about a girl who had a name that was spelled the same way frontwards and backwards that she didn't really like. She got into a fight with a boy and as punishment, they're both given a box that they're not suppose to open on a certain day and the girl can't help but wonder/dread what kind of thing could be in the box.
I could've sworn it was called "Anyna" or something. It was a Protagonist Title for sure.
So I have a question about Loonatics Unleashed. It's often described as trying to cash in on the rise of animé at the time, but from what I've seen it seems more like a rip-off of the DCAU both visually and in the premise, especially Batman Beyond. It may resemble Sentai shows a tad but they were hardly going strong at the time. It's still a creatively bankrupt market ploy either way but I wonder why this connection is made.
Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.I'd say it's because of the sharp angles and the no-nonsense attitude that a good chunk of anime tend to have, but your guess is as good as mine. Did you know the guys behind SWAT Kats helped develop Loonatics?
Anyway, in other news, Amazon Studios has a new batch of animated pilots. People can vote on which ones they like the most and which is more worthy of being a full-fledged series on Amazon Prime.
Which sounds all fine and good except...I don't have Amazon Prime.
Does anyone know if it's worth the 30-day trial?
Bump.
So you guys remember that CG movie on "The Little Prince" directed by the director of Kung Fu Panda 1, with Jeff Bridges, Mackenzie Foy, and other all-stars?
Turns out it's coming to the US via Paramount Animation.
Cool.
Bump.
Oh wow, this thread is old.
Erm...
I honestly don't know where to put this, because this had two threads that got locked because nobody would stop getting angry at it.
But...it's only fair that we know about this, right?
Now let's just remember the old saying:
"If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything."
...
(Ducks for cover anyway.)
Not sure if this thread is deserving of THAT trailer as a bump, but it wasn't as cringe-worthy as I feared.
Well. I figured it wasn't worth dedicating a new thread on account of the other Tropers'...ahem...very strong opinions of this motion picture. So why not just put it in a thread that's on animation in general?
Although...the candy corn gag admittedly makes me smirk.
In Cartoon Action Hour: Season 3, there is a forward by Flint Dille, a TV writer who worked on 80s cartoons like G.I. Joe and Transformers. At one point, he talks about how syndicated cartoons in the 80s had a little more freedom than those on the networks who were are about showing pro-social values (think weekday afternoons as opposed to Saturday mornings). In fact, Steve Gerber lured him to G.I. Joe by saying the characters were allowed to punch each other.
I think there is some truth to this at least during the early to mid-80s.
Reposting from the General Nickelodeon thread:
Well, given the rut Paramount has been under as of late (which the likes of Monster Trucks, Ghost in the Shell, Baywatch, and especially Transformers: The Last Knight didn't help alleviate), it looks like Paramount in general has nowhere to go but up.
Question is, is this lady up to the task?
Probably not, given how awful most DreamWorks movies are in general nowadays.
Whelp.
We gone and locked the SONY Pictures Animation thread again. Time to make another.
Ha, ha. Seriously, though, we will get harsher with folks if the hateposting on that ... thing... spills over into additional topics.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"If I do need to holler some posts, I will note if it's repeat offenders.
Sometimes that's an issue, not just the "fact" there's hateposting. Remove those, and the hateposting tends to die down.
But yeah, hopefully people will start trying to be constructive in general.(my hope is low)
...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol.
Yeah, well, you know, that's just like, um, your opinion, man.
Seriously though, no one likes a negative nancy, dude. And FYI, some of us want to be hopeful.
