As for the school, yeah I'm assuming more of a college age than high school age cast though it is rather ambiguous.

I think the only real concern I have for Corrin's sex in Birthright or Conquest is due to my plan to figure out some kind of headcanon chimera where the Birthright and Conquest runs were failed timelines like Lucina's original timeline in Awakening, and the children in my Revelations run were from my earlier Birthright and Conquest runs, being sent to the one timeline where things actually worked out.
Mostly because I still hate the way Fates handled the children mechanic. Awakening did it so much better.
It's been fun. It's pretty clear that the child mechanic in Fates was slapped on at the last minute, without really making sense. For example, Hisame was originally intended to be Hinata's brother instead of his son.
SO I've been thinking about getting into this franchise, which games should I try playing first to get a handle on the mechanics and overall feel of the plot?
Preferably something released before the 3DS, as I have no means of buying one right about now and the emulators are still kinda shit.

Well normally I'd recommend Awakening but that's for the 3DS so I'd say just go for "Fire Emblem" for the GBA. That was the first one released outside of Japan.

This song needs more love.I would also have recommended Awakening, since that was my first one and it's a great game. Can't say much about games before it, though.
It's been fun.Sacred Stones is known for being pretty easy, so I'd recommend it for beginners.
Awakening is pretty easy to get into, and is a bit more available than Fire Emblem/Blazing Sword or Sacred Stones outside of emulation. The GBA games released in the west are currently only officially available on Wii U virtual console.
I wonder what the Crutch Character of Three Houses will be like.
I had a somewhat silly thought: Byleth's father is the Crutch Character, equipped with a silver weapon (let's say an axe in this case). He gets killed by one of the antagonists at the end of one of the early chapters, who claims his axe as a trophy.
When you finally face off against said antagonist, that Silver Axe is actually in their inventory, complete with the same amount of uses left.
The only non-3DS game I'd recommend for a beginner is either Sacred Stones or Blazing Sword.
A cruel, sick joke is still a joke, and sometimes all you can do is laugh.Definitely Thracia 776. I hear that's super-welcoming for newcomers.

Awakening is where most people started, but since the 3DS is verboten (Which is surprising, they're incredibly cheap now.) just emulate play the "Original" on the GBA. I mean play Path of Radiance instead if you can, of course, but good like getting a copy of that.
Just in case Hail Muffins doesn't know, Thracia 776 is known to be THE hardest game in the series.
Mostly because it has a bunch of mechanics that never showed up anywhere else whose only purpose seems to be to make the game more hard than it already is, such as healing staffs having a chance to miss, the fatigue system and PITCH BLACK fog of war!
(Also, the fact that as off now. It doesn't quite have a 100% finished translation.)

"Death's vastness holds no peace. I come at the end of the long road—neither human, nor devil... All bends to my will." -Demifiend.I think Echoes actually had used some of Thracia's mechanics.
Maybe it's just me , but PoR's mechanics can be overwhelming and confusing due to taking some cues from Jugdral. Or it's growing pains from transitioning from the GBA series. Still need to start my gameplay of it though.

Get Out of Our Home. But is its translation finished IN AMERICA?
Anyway, I agree that Awakening is probably the most newbie-friendly game at the moment, but since the 3DS is not an option I guess that would leave Blazing Blade, aka "Fire Emblem" for the GBA.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Seriously, why the hell there is that "In America!"-line in one of the Thracia 776 fantranslations!? Was someone on the translation team really that desperate to make a Yugioh Abridged reference?
"Death's vastness holds no peace. I come at the end of the long road—neither human, nor devil... All bends to my will." -Demifiend.I heard it was to keep the people who were working on that fan-translation alert for text errors, as I once read. It might be a reference, but who knows?

It's something like that. There was a very old translation patch on Genealogy where one of the boss said Nice Mullet to Andrei. Probably for the same reason. It's something to do with how stingy the SNES rom works in regard to text.
Fire Emblem Heroes Code: 4547311645 Fate/Grand Order Code: 188037115Preferably something released before the 3DS, as I have no means of buying one right about now and the emulators are still kinda shit.
The only one I can recommend is Blazing Sword & Sacred Stone but so far they're only available on the Wii U. If you don't mind outdated mechanics, then go for Blazing Sword. I would've recommend the Tellius Duology since that looks like the only game that actually does live to it's hype, but there's no means to play them other than buying it at an absurd price.
Andrei is just awkward looking. There's something off about his portrait but it's hard to tell.
Get Out of Our Home.I wonder how it would turn out if Three Houses had Mutually Exclusive Classes with the creature classes.
Continue the bloodline, Fujimaru! My predictions for Three Houses:
-While anyone can be of any class, starting stats and growth rates are going determine what classes that they're actually suited for.
-Going to throw my hat into the Byleth is not customizable appearance wise pile. Also, I really don't care about it because I think that the customization options for the Avatar characters were sub-par at best.
-Going with the teacher/professor angle, Byleth is going to be the first Avatar character that will serve as a Jagen/Oifey archetype character. Speaking as an FE veteran, that's actually really going to get me into the character from a meta perspective.
-All three Lord characters are going to get vastly different character development thanks to their countries and depending on what they do with the Crests Mac Guffins that I haven't been paying attention to TBH.
-There will be exclusive characters that you can only get if you pick a certain Lord. I'm okay with this.
-Sothis is going to be either a villain, a tragic figure or something in-between, calling it now.
You gotta start somewhere.
Specifically, it reminds me a lot of Trails of Cold Steel's military academy which is like an anime high school where the high school elements actually play a role in the military aspect.
This song needs more love.
