I've always liked Jill for her emotional redemption storyline, I must admit.

Here is the unused content video for Radiant Dawn in case anyone is curious.

Most of Radiant Dawn's unused content is music interestly enough.

[up] x2 Said home is a vehemently racist place led by a madman hell-bent on conquest (not that the other beorc nations aren't racist, they kinda all have issues though they're a lot less apparent in Path of Radiance), so it's kinda good that Jill sees the error of her ways and turns out for the better. Though the fact that she can Faceā€“Heel Turn again like that is pretty funny. And Jill has some of the best Character Development for a side character in the series, so that's a cool thing. I appreciate the joke though. A lot of FE characters in general are easily swayed away from their homelands. Enough to make it meme-worthy.

Radiant Dawn did a good job of pointing out that Crimea isn't entirely the good guy though and Daein's problem was very much tied to the guy at the helm. Gray-and-Gray Morality is one of the reasons I love that game so much.

Technically RD is more multiple gray factions being set against each other by utter black holes like Lekain and Izuka, but yeah, it's a complex plot and one of my favorites in the series.

Someone on the dev team definitely like Jill. Aside from being able to be unrecruited, I appreciate that having high enough supports with Mist or Lethe can also shut down that possibility.

Funny thing, though, having somewhat recently replayed all of Tellius and just looking back across both games: the way Sothe talks to Micaiah about what he learned in Crimea's army makes it sound like he was the one who underwent Jill's development when he does very little after being recruited in PoR.

I also love that Jill has dialog with the final boss of Path of Radiance. It's a shame she can't hurt him because after their conversation, it would be nice to be able to have Jill cave his skull in.

[up]I find it funny they gave Reyson dialogue with Ashnard. Kind of hilarious seeing Ashnard go into Rant Mode and then imagining Ashnard swinging Gurgurant around with Reyson still embedded on it.

I really wished some of the chapters were longer, maybe even grinding maps for those who want to level up late game units against Asheras soulless hordes in RD. Also Supoorts

Like I really like Crimea chapter for example.

Radiant Dawn WAS going to have proper supports, but only certain pairs of characters would have gotten unique conversations upon getting an A-Rank.

One thing I can understand somewhat on not porting the Tellius Duology is it's probably harder port a console game. That being said, I'm still very confuse on why the rest of series hasn't been ported over yet. Especially since they ported the GBA era (minus Tellius) to the Wii U.

If there is one thing that I don't like in RD (aside from the ruined supports) is that because the game is separated in multiple parts that don't use the same units, you're kind of stuck having to use the characters you gain in later parts (namely the Greil mercenaries) since they're the characters that will be the highest level for the final part. Some farming maps would have definitely been useful to let you level whoever you wanted.

Soo apparently... Despite the whole thing of the botched supports in Radiant Dawn, there are a few pairs that get unique lines. For example, Sothe and Micaiah.

...However, there is one certain character that has unique support dialogue with various other characters instead of just one. And that character is, get this... Oliver!

Part 3 Dawn Brigade are practically grinding chapters, though. Paragon available and objectives that force them to kill a lot of high-yield-EXP enemies. 3-6 alone has often taken a Swordmaster from level 10 to Trueblade 5 for me.

Oliver is a hero and a champion of Justice and Beauty who punishes the wicked in the heroes hour of need.

He also, ironically enough alongside the Herons, represents how change and possibility are just beyond the Goddess of Orders grasp. Since not only are the Herons willing to fight despite being a peaceful species on the Order side of things, but even a Champion of Beauty can do the right thing for completely insane reasons.

I love just how when Oliver recruits himself, Ike is basically like... "...Could you please go back to the enemy?"

ILikeRobots: Path of Radiance is a standard Fire Emblem story about rescuing a princess and defeating a Dark Lord. Radiant Dawn is about how things aren't that simple.

I would even disagree that Lekain is a black hole of evil, and not just because of his light motif. The man is literally doing the will of the deity worshipped by the continent, and genuinely believes he is on the right side. He's a self-righteous git about it, but he's not intentionally malevolent like Izuka.

To others: I agree that the Dawn Brigade could have really used some more availability, and more than that Fiona should have been a Jagen on introduction. The girl is just the worst unit in the game, if not the series.

Lekain cares about nothing but what gives him popularity, money, and power. He's absolutely not an honest believer.

Being restored by God to fulfill her will would be more than an incentive to be a devoted follower, unlike before. While still being all those things and not learning from it. If anything being chosen by God to lead her armies would probably push the idea he was right in his own head.

It's been a while since I've played Echoes, so I decided to finish the main campaign today.

  • My Alm being around level 19 meant that his final fight against Berkut was hilariously one-sided. Ah well; may you find more success in the next life, Berkut. Preferably without setting anyone on fire.
  • Alm also managed to one-shot Jedah during the final level. Thanks to Genny's summoned spirits attacking Jedah, I didn't have to risk any of my units to open up that fourth round when he can be hurt.
  • After giving Python Parthia, his usefulness shot up; he ended up sniping the two Witch sisters and that one sorcerer with Medusa from a safe distance.
  • Alm vs. Duma gave me some Redeye King vibes, especially how the battle ends.

Overall, pretty fun game. Going to grind a bit more before heading into the bonus dungeon.

On the topic of the Tellius games, specifically on the Black Knight... I find kinda funny how even the internal data of Path Of Radiance spoils his identity.

Just imagine during the time before Radiant Dawn came out, a hacker is taking a look at the game's files in order to find unused content. And then looks a the internal names of the game's music... Only to find out that the internal name for the Black Knight's battle theme is... BGM_BTL_ZELGIUS1

Yup! That's one of RD's biggest strengths, I think. That, and its worldbuilding is some of the best in the series, though I still wish we could've seen Hatari, the Hidden Elf Village that Stefan created, and more wolf laguz.

Fingers crossed for great worldbuilding in Three Houses after it's fallen by the wayside as of late. Looks promising in the little we know at least... I hope.

EDIT: RE Dawn Brigade conversation

Yeah, they got shafted pretty hard. I get it. The Greil Mercenaries are cool and we love them from the last game, but so many of the new guys come off as Flat Characters not only because of the stripped-down supports but because of the Spotlight-Stealing Squad.

And somebody had a grudge against Fiona, I swear. She's screwed at every turn by the game. But it sucks, because she has every trapping of a plot-important character - leader of an independent Daein faction, daughter of one of the Four Riders...but then she just never does anything past her recruitment chapter lol.

It doesn't help that the GMs are infinitely more fun to play with because of how they tend to dominate the game, whereas the DB...has some trouble.
