Hasn't Smash already taught you that characters beating themselves up is totally a thing? Chrom would still totally show up for Robin's Final Smash to Chrom on Chrom for even thinking about Chromming Robin.

Unlikely. Videos so far have been careful to avoid showing Robin's Final Smash, which only makes sense if they were concealing that Chrom isn't in it.

Which, from a story perspective, it really should since that would make it an actual trap (gameplay-wise, it'd be awful, so it's good that they didn't). As it is, it's Anankos screwing over his own troops for no reason.

Pretty happy about Chrom's inclusion, also Killing Edge as a weapon is pretty cool.
I'm still hoping we get someone to diversify the FE reps, though.
Hector, Ephraim, Celica, and Veronica are all good choices imo.

Wouldn't mind some more assist trophies for more minor characters.
Reinhardt Assist Trophy is a must. Judgral needs some sort of rep after all.

Reinhardt's a Part 2 character, right? If Jugdral gets a rep in Smash Bros., it'll have to be a Part 2 character. Part 1 characters probably wouldn't do so well, what with all the fire users, the moon dropping down like a meteor, and a big wyvern flying around.

Reinhardt's actually a Thracia 776 character.
Funny thing is, I've been kinda hoping for him as an Assist Trophy for a while now. Partly just for Heroes memes, but as a mage knight he'd offer interesting attack opportunities that wouldn't really be workable as a whole playable character.

Reinhart is a hilariously popular T776 character. He's basically the Camus of that game. I have no idea how he got so popular.
Chrom is an odd addition, Awakening is about what, five years old? And he was only the protagonist for about a third of it at best. But if he's an echo I can understand that.
Celica is the next logical addition, echo of Robin probably with Alm joining in for her final Smash; though that being said Fire Emblem's reps swelling again is probably going to be pretty weird. They already saw a huge jump from two in Brawl to, what, six in SSB 4?

Not that odd, really. Awakening is a really popular entry in the series, and Chrom's one of the most popular characters in that game. He was the most popular male character, according to the Awakening artbook, and still scores pretty high on Heroes polls.

The memes of Chrom being left on the floor back in Sm4sh and him saying that he'll get his chance another day may also have something to do with the large amount of requests for his inclusion.
Reminder that echo fighters don't take too much development time and are more of "eh why not" bonuses to the game.

On the Smash thing, I'm gonna be surprised if we get any new FE fighters before Edelgard shows up to axe you a question. I know they're bringing back literally everyone from the old Smashes, but if they add a new moveset to the roster it's probably gonna be someone whose games are still in stores.

As for reinhardt, he got his popularity from heroes by being ridiculously overpowered in "competitive", even in the hands of the AI, on top of being easily accessible as an unit. i'm barely exagerrating if I say he defined the meta for the first year of existence of the game.

He and the Brave variant of Lyn both still define it to an extent. Weapon refines have made units bulkier, but high-end Arena teams still need to be prepared to face some highly optimized jackassery from them here and there (+4 Atk and Spd from merges, Hone Cavalry for +6 Atk and Spd to both; Quickened Pulse Seal and Firesweep Bow+ on Lyn; and Atk +3 Seal on Rein).

Chrom being in Smash proves that game is going for maximum fanservice. I don't think he really adds much to the game, but people wanted him so here he is.
He's way cooler than Roy though so I guess I can't complain. His inclusion will immortalize him in the popular consciousness and not just Fire Emblem nerds.
But who will assist Robin's final smash now though!? There are only Lissa, Frederick, Sully, Virion, Stahl, Vaike, Miriel, Sumia, Kellam, Donnel, Lon'Qu, Ricken, Maribelle, Panne, Gaius, Cordelia, Gregor, Nowi, Libra, Tharja, Olivia, Cherce, Henry, Basilio, Flavia, Severa, Owain, Kjelle, Laurent, Cynthia, Brady, Yarne, Noire, Nah, Inigo, Gerome, Tiki, Anna and Emmeryn to choose from!
