Invasion Squid Girl

Very funny and very Moe about a squid girl coming to the surface to put an end to the humans who are polluting only things arn't what she expects and quickly gets side tracked constantly.

Does it make me a cynic to note that calling an anime Invasion! Squid Girl is maybe not the best choice for a moe anime?

It's been fun.

I have heard (not sure if its true or not) but some people in japan consider Squid to be rather cute...

Yeah, this one's been around for a while. Anime was bound to happen, maybe.

Nothing atypical but has good comedy potential. Neat OP. Animation seems good too. Will be watchable probably.

EDIT: I'm not sure if one should call it "moe", it's just a kid's and comedy show, nothing fanservice-y.

Nothing too great, but decent. I'll watch an episode or two more to see if it improves.

Endearingly cute, although very brainless. On balance, I quite like it.

They really eat squid ink? Huh.

Anyway, this is a kind of low key show that won't blow me away but isn't really meant to either. It remains to be seen whether or not I'll bother keeping up, but there are worse ways to waste half an hour.

I wasn't doubting it, I just hadn't thought about it before.

I had to look it up myself when I heard a Blogger say "Squid ink spaghetti anyone? YUMMY."... I was thinking "Gross".

If there's one thing I've learned in my life is that if it's organic, someone's gonna try to eat it. And it might taste good.

And if it doesn't, they'll sell it to rich people and call it a delicacy.

This was not quite as adorable as it should have been.

I suspect it will get old fast, unless they find some way to mix it up.

I was browsing an imageboard when I heard about it in passing. The premise intrigued me (read: made me giggle), so I went and downloaded a fansubbing of the first episode. Many laughs were had. Then I learned that said anime apparently started airing this month? So how 'bout that.

That makes this the first presently-airing anime I've liked. Completely by accident!

And apparently it was written by the person who wrote Hale + Guu. No wonder I liked it.

I suppose that bodes well in terms of expansion of the premise. Hale + Guu started with a crazy premise, but certainly never felt limited by it.

It's by the director of Hare + Guu ? I'm definitely following it, then...

GG Crono said "writer" not "director". That's quite different.

Edit: But apparently it is the director, so rejoice.

For those watching the FFFpeeps subs: do you agree with not subbing the ~ika and ~geso verbal tics? I read scanlations of the manga with ~ika and ~geso, so I was pro-geso at first. I found myself agreeing with the decision after watching the anime and realizing that scanlations need to add ~ika and ~geso because you can't audibly hear Ika-chan say it. Since you can hear her say ~ika and ~geso, it wouldn't really add anything to the subtitles.

Also, Sanae is a good girl.

Horrible Subs just had her insert squid into her sentences like some kind of squidding Smurf.

Also, its an interesting enough fish out of water story.

Out of curiosity, does "geso" actually mean something? Or is it just a cute sound, like "uguu"?

Sounds like a standard verbal tic to me.

I figure ~geso is a childish onomatopoeia associated with squid.
