Alright.

Youki = Dave Strider. From the future. Or something. It makes absolutley no freaking sense, but I find it a fun idea to entertain.

I think it's cooler to imagine Dave fighting alongside Youki.

They're just too different for me to believe they're the same person.

Can you imagine Youki dropping sick beats? Yes, of course.

While wearing awesome shades? Again, yes.

While wielding a shitty sword? Unfortunately, it is here the theory falls apart.

Oh, no, wait, it would be Youki and BRO that would team up, and YOUMU would team up with Dave.

And then Aradia would team up with Sakuya.

You know why.

For what it's worth, the only thing we know about Youki is that he's a hermit.

Also; Kanaya really is closer to Sakuya than any of the others, despite the whole Maid of Time thing.

I thought he was a lower case h hermit. Not the special upper case type.

Huh. the Touhou Wiki has two versions of the phrasing referring to Youki's departure.

The way they translate it on their page about Youmu, they simply say he "became a hermit", but on their page about Youki, the same line is translated as "retired into enlightened hermitude"

So I dunno.

Maybe? It'd certainly explain how he reached 300, though.

Sadly, "Delusion of Enlightenment" is one character too long to be my title.

It's one of the few Youmu spellcards that fits. Seriously, they have really long names. I kinda sorta try to keep it up with this thread if possible.

I agree with this, but in a more specific way.

I see Youmu as a Sakuya in training.

In fact, this is probably the reason why Sakuya's the person Youmu's most likely to interact with in Fanon after Yuyuko, whether as a Worthy Opponent (like in Beyond Rivals, Not Quite Natural Enemies), or as an Onee-sama she looks up to (like in Life Of Maid) or both (like in in Gensokyo Great Sports Day ~ 200 Yojana in One Slash ~

Speaking of 200 Yojana in One Slash, I like its interpretation of Youmu. Disappeared Dad before he could teach her everything he knows, forcing her to self-train based only on her faulty memories of her Master Swordsman dad, while at the same time being the Distaff Counterpart of a Cute Shotaro Boy? Yup, she's pretty much the classic example of a Kid Hero, specifically one who had been handed too much responsibility before she was ready for them.

... Wow. That eroge OP was majorly WTF-inducing overall, but when Youmu struck that Kawaisa pose with her tongue sticking out, I think my brain broke and had to be replaced with a soup can while it was in repair.

... It was very well animated, though.

Still prefer the first one over either of the others. Last one is nice, but the music and animation just barely fall short of "I wanna watch this over and over again".

I don't really recall how the original Ancient Temple sounded. And Hiroari is a good song, but not one of my all-time favorites.

Hiroari Shoots a Strange Bird ~ Till When? is probably my single favorite Touhou song TITLE, though.

I love both (or rather, all) her songs.

But, nice originals and rearrangements aside, there's not really any discussion going on anymore, so it's time to start thinking about whom to make the next subject.

For characters of lesser popularity, there's Mima, Wriggle, Akyu, Chiyuri, Elly, Ichirin, Medicine, Orange, Shinki, Yumemi... In celebration of Fairy Wars, perhaps the three fairies.

There's not a lot of characters left! Some of these might not even be discussed at all if you don't want them to be.

I'd be down with Wriggle next. I have a similarly hauntingly beautiful song in store for her.

Because I love Wriggle. So I definately would like to discuss with her.

But the Three Fairies would be nice too, with Fairy Wars and Cirno referencing TTGL and the ilk.
