Defender....was that the one that protects both front and back? Not too fond of that one if it is. It might defend both rows at once, but it doesn't activate as often as Back and Front Guards. That, and Back Guard is a waste of skill point most the time from what I've seen.

On the other hand, Front Guard works nicely with the Dark Hunter when they use their Bait attacks.

No, Defender is the one that buffs DEF strongly for about 5 turns.
Synergizes well with Immunize.

Curious, what party did/do you all use for the first game?

Dark Hunter+Protector front, Medic+Survivalist+Troubadour back...thats for the first game anyways.

I used a Troubadour+Protector+Survivalist for the front row, Alchemist and Medic at the back.

Quick question...the Etrian Odyssey 3 roms are bugged...the game freezes at specific points.

Anyone know where they are? What's the fastest way to find out if the one you downloaded is bugged? Using a specific ability to trigger the bug...etc.

Anyone know a patched version of the rom? For R4 preferrably.

And as usual, I miss the horribly-drawing-in part of the conversation (how everyone imagines their parties) to land in a part where I'm useless (ROM data). Yay for sea time.

Seriously, though, yay for sea time, since being unable to spend money makes it really easy to save up and always be able to afford more games.

Heh, i'm making my way through Etrian Odyssey and The Drowned City at the same time now. Would be playing Heroes of Lagaard too, but it asked me for a password and i really want whatever useless congratulatory message it gives me for having an Old Save Bonus.

As for giving my characters personalities, i totally do that. My Landsknecht is the Determinator dedicated To Be a Master. My Troubadour sees herself as a Spoony Bard and gets angry whenever she's left behind. My Protector is a Nice Girl who shouldn't be pushed too far. My Primary alchemist is so full of his self-appointed command role that he named himself "Boss". I even give them cross-game relationships: My backup alchemist from the first game is the sister of my Zodiac in The Drowned City.

You know, given that i need at least one of every class this is fast approaching Loads And Loads Of Characters. Might be why i'm still only in the fourth stratum. Damn Level Grinding.

I just purchased The Dark Spire. And honestly? The interface is too clunky to tolerate much.

Yeah the game is a lot weaker than Etrian Odyssey....in pretty much every way imaginable.

Well, I've lost the better part of the last three days (and nights) in EO3.

...and have only just made it to the fourth floor. >_<

T'make matters worse, I decided by the time I got there that my skill point distribution was retarded, so I forced all but one of my main party to rest; now I have to waste some time leveling them back up to that point.

I also have my money whore team. It's five farmers with max harvest skill.

Right now, though, the hoplite's out with a farmer in her place. A farmer with that "extra exp for other characters" thing.

Of course, being farmers, they suck and can't get past the first floor, and thus can only cut.

I find that healing Monk is unnecessary. A princess serves that role much better for me.

I'm off doing my level grinding; my iPod started playing Eye of the Tiger halfway through.

It felt incredible.

Now I'm laughing too hard to be pissed off about the grind.

So, I'm thinking of what I should do when I start multiclassing. I'm thinking my Princess so it gets access to active healing abilities instead of passive one, as well as better offensive capabilities.

I have just made it to the 4th Stratum in The Drowned City. My skill distribution sucks. I didn't plan well at all.

Funny, I just went to the 4th store around my area, still no copy of Etrian Odyssey 3 on sale.

There sure are a lot of shitty movie turned video games though.

If you can figure out the Chinese name I'm sure there is one. ( Now that I think about mine is working alright though I still haven't beat 4th stratum.)
