Granted, the brass supposedly built a Gundam for firing nuclear warheads, but that doesn't excuse you fanatics for attempting another Colony Drop. Twice!

Gundam The Origin should have had Mobile Workers fighting at A Baoa Que.

Aren't mobile workers owned by Zeonic? If I recall the Origin OVA, Zeonic leased them out, but I could easily be misremembering.

Also: Hey which one of you retards in high command gave Lt Col. Killing nuclear warheads? It's not like his name is Lt Col. Measured Response actually made me laugh even though it's low-hanging fruit.

So there's an update on the Live Action Gundam film. (Source is in Italian, I'll summarize the main points.)

Essentially, Sunrise wants to reassure wary fans that they have full control and this will be a true Gundam story, not a generic action film.

Apparently Sunrise is making a real effort to break into the Western market (which accounts for about 30% of Gundam sales, apparently), and sees a live action film as a necessary step for doing that.

[up][up]A true Gundam story? I presume that means some sort of space war, space tournament, or model building contest. The definition has expanded in the past few years.

In all seriousness, I still expect this to be a LA adaptation of The Origin. So allow me to be the first to say - Cast a Latino as Amuro (he’s half Mexican according to Sunrise and Tomino).

Not really? Multiple sources say that he's half American or Canadian.

You gotta start somewhere.

True, but the latest version (The Origin) showed him as half Mexican so that is probably what will get precidence.

That's fair.

Bright should be British but then I would have Movie dub flashbacks.

I mean, going with the Mexican origin would better open the door for actors of color than US/Canadian would. Latinx =/= brown, but when Japan thinks of America they think white. Bright should be Hong Kong-British, IMO. Deals with the pesky China pandering while respecting the source material. Gundam, if I'm not mistaken, has always been one of the more racially diverse anime, and the film should reflect that.

So I finally watched Origin episode 6. Overall pretty solid, but I really dislike how overt they made it that Revil's escape was 100% Gihren and Kycilia's plot.

It just seemed to really only serve the purpose of making the Federation look even more incompetent considering Revil turned out to be completely played and was an inadvertent Zeon stooge. That said, it wound up obviously biting Zeon in the ass so it's not like it's really shilling them, it's just shitting on the Federation. Also the speech itself was underwhelming.

I don't know how the manga did it so it might not be the OVA's fault, but I didn't care for it either way.

Okay it’s official we’re getting an IBO sequel.

https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/daily-briefs/2018-08-02/gundam-iron-blooded-orphans-continuation-teased/.135000

The only question is it a direct continuation or will it start a couple years after the epilogue?

[up][up] This reminds me of my own idea I had for a sequel to IRON-BLOODED ORPHANS;

"Gundam IRON-BLOODED OFFSPRING: Child of the Fibbing History"

The storm has now resided, the wolf now rests.

By that logic, Ein should still be alive (kinda) in Kimaris.

Nah. While they didn’t say it outright, they made it pretty clear that the fight with the Bael and the damage inflicted on the Kimaris Vidar killed what was left of Ein. I do wonder if the remodelled Barbatos will have an Alaya-Vijnana Type-E system built from Mikazuki’s remains, though - it fits with the whole Unicorn homage the design has going on. Sure, Julietta would hate it, but she might not be given a choice about piloting it - it’s a logical way to give her an edge without tooling her up with the dangerous cybernetics she’s rejected.

Except the Type-E still requires cybernetics, just less than a true AV.

I thought Type-E had the full cybernetics, but avoided the "pilot overload" problem that crippled Mikazuki by using the wetware to share some of the load, Pacific Rim style.

Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.

I’m not all that sure it does. It’s a very independent system, after all, and Gaelio was mostly tooled up as a makeshift measure to stop him being paraplegic. Just tapping a button, sitting back, and letting your Wetware CPU do its thing seems like an entirely plausible application of the technology.

Doesn't the system take control of the pilot's motor functions or something?

I think if they do do the Mika & Akihiro's conscious is stored in their Gundam thing then they'll justify why it happened to them but not Ein because the Gundam system is different & better than what was used on Ein.

The Gundam specs are way more advanced then most of the shit that gets made today after all.
