Job: Shell Operator

Shell/shadow description: A medium sized Shell with mixed camoflague suited for both arid locations and areas with more greenery. It's not as slab sided as other Shells, but at the same time it isn't sleek. It uses a scaled up assault rifle that somewhat resembles a SA80A2◊, but which has single shot, three-round burst, and fully automatic fire modes - the last is usually used only in an emergency, such as sudden attack at close quarters. Otherwise, it is armed in the normal Troperian manner. Like its pilot, it has no outstanding performance in any one area, but it does not have any serious shortcomings, either.

Appearance, characteristics, posture, etc.: Light brown hair, with fair skin. He has brown eyes, and is of average height. Prefers to wear his fatigues, helmet (do Shell Operators have those, and if so, what are they like?) and flak jacket so that he can get into his Shell with the minimum of fuss.

Personality: Slightly cautious, but is for the most part a fun loving and laidback person who likes to mess around (within reason, of course). Regards his foes as being respectable opponents, but nothing more.

Backstory: Growing up in Cortana, he had an unremarkable life before signing up with the Troperian Empire's military forces due to his need to "do his bit" for his nation. Didn't particularly excel at anything, but did not do badly at anything either.

Well, I'm shocked. For a community as mecha-happy as this one can be, I'm surprised this doesn't have many players. Of course, it could just be that y'all're lazy.

That's a lot of positions to fill. Is it okay to have that many R Pers? Can you even GET that many R Pers? One faction has a min. of 22 spots open.

It might be a good idea to cut one squad from the Empire side.

I'll be making a character in a bit when I get my creative juices flowing, but I'll be taking the Platoon Sargent slot.

• Shell/shadow description: Larger, more heavily armored Shell. Equipt with more expansive HUD options to keep track of teams in the field. Also heavily battle worn, peeling paint, various bullet dents and scratches.

• 1x shoulder mounted grenade launcher
• 1x Hand held Machine Gun◊
• 1x Hand held small blaster rifle (stored in back until use).

• Appearance, characteristics, posture, etc.: Wears his uniform or fatigues sharply, holds himself very properly and never slacks in his appearance. Generally scowls and smokes heavily. For an old man, he's in very good shape.
• Personality: Anton Nyx is a no-nonsense battle hardened veteran who doesn't take shit from any of his subordinates. Not afraid to misinterpret orders when he thinks they'll get people killed or making things difficult for incompetent superiors, not to mention, kick someone's ass. He knows nothing but the service and takes pride that he's lived so long doing what he's doing. Secretly wants to die fighting.
• Backstory: He joined the service at 19 and been sticking to his job ever since he could get into a shell. Everyone he's fought with have either been killed in action, wounded too severely to continue active duty, or have been transferred to distant battlefields. He loves the job too much to quit, and doesn't think he could even do anything besides fight. He's been busted down ranks often for infractions with civilians and Malicious Compliance.

Ah, I see, wasn't paying attention.

I should start remembering these things more considering I used to reenact. (Though, all the 'officers' were elected). Sargent Major just sounds so Bad Ass though.

By the way, wouldn't the team leaders be E-3 E-4? If they were E-5 wouldn't that conflict with the Squad Leaders being E5? For instance, Charlie team has a squad leader of E-4 rank but the team leaders could be E-5?

I've been trying to fit this character idea. I have this guy with academic merits (M Phil) which I think would put him as CO rather than NCO, but he has personal reasons to be on the ground teams and pilot a Shell (so he has a chance to see and rescue his own sister that was abducted and brainwashed by GA). How could I achieve this...

Could be a specialist.

Infantry team. Wait, no, were they replaced with Shells?

Uhmm...

Maybe a special search and capture team who is attempted to grab a Choir and bring them to be studied, and as your best chance you join them?

That sounds like a major plot thinger. Like, we'd all get sucked into it...

No, there's still infantry if I remember correctly.

I wonder if there's special anti-shell or anti-choir teams?

That kind of sounds like our job.
