And your picture is very much Just A Face And A Caption. I'd suggest an image of such a girl somehow contrasting to her brooding male counterpart (which is what the trope actually describes)

I'd say that's more than Just A Face And A Caption. As far as I can tell, that's not even an existing fictional character, but her looks, pose, background and dialogue do a pretty good job at summing up the pandering emotional sparkliness this trope is about.

Except the trope isn't just about being a perky character, it's about a perky character who helps a more gloomy, morose character out of said gloom and morosity.

The speech balloon kind of demonstrates that part.

I'm not saying it's a perfect picture. I don't know if we'll find anything much better than it, though.

Hmm. True. On the other hand, it certainly can be interpreted this way. grin

What exactly was wrong with the original image anyway?

I personally got the "Magical Negro for the loveless" implication, as the girl is positioned like your typical angel depiction.

But I'm just curious, is all.

This image could work. There are already a couple articles which use it to illustrate the concept.

If no one objects, I'm adding it to the article tomorrow.

Whoa, Lullabee, that is some serious Just A Face And A Caption there.

^In all fairness, she has a very manic expression, but then, that could mean anything from "Axe-Crazy" to "high on uppers" to this trope.

To just laughing at a funny joke. It's a horrid picture for this.

Kafuka Fuura would be a good choice, but I'm having a hard time finding good images of her and Nozomu together. Some possibles:

1
2
3 (alright, not really, it's just funny)

Okay, it's not an exact match to the trope name... but it is pretty funny.

Funny does not equal fitting.

EDIT: And Willbyr, that link is broken too.

The previous picture was the current Genki Girl picture, it was removed only because it was duplicated there.

I think we should move that back there, it is easier to find other Genki Girl pictures, but there are not many with a cheerful girl dragging along a confused Ordinary High-School Student by his necktie.

I will go skim though MM again and find something like what's up on Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl.

Genki Girl already has an image links section. I will use that for Genki Girl, and the current Genki Girl one for Manic Pixie Dream Girl.

EDIT: I switched it. Also, my current MPDG caption is a snowclone of the GG caption; perhaps someone could change one or the other, thanks.
