I'm thinking of going back and fiddling with the Mawile article I wrote, just a little bit, since it's been quite some time since they apparently retconned that Mawile actually totally can eat with their big second mouth and that throws basically everything I wrote involving said mouth into the trash.

—!Diglett Lines

Morphs [Variant/Oak Catalogue #]

  • Diglett (Scaptochirus uno capite) [Kanto/050]
  • Diglett (Scaptochirus capillum) [Alola/050]

  • Dugtrio (Scaptochirus tribus capitibus) [Kanto/051]
  • Dugtrio (Scaptochirus pulchra coma) [Alola/051]

Physical Descriptions

Diglett and Dugtrio are popularly depicted by artists as small topsoil-colored heads sticking out of the ground with pink bulbous noses and black bead eyes. However, these depictions are not true. They do have proper bodies beneath the earth, but due to their thin skin, they choose to remain underground for the majority of their lives. Quick-eyed Trainers have spotted them with at least two clawed appendages and that Dugtrio is in fact three Digletts working together as one, but this is as far as anyone has gotten to learning about Diglett and Dugtrio's true bodies (see Notable Biology below for more information).

The Alolan variant displays two notable differences. One is their noticable tan, which they've developed as a means of protection from Alola's more intense sunlight. Another, more poignant one is the volcanic glass coming out of their heads, commonly represented as blonde hair. Alolan Diglett only has three singular strands of this hair coming out of its head, but Alolan Dugtrio has it in flowing locks. Artists commonly depict Alolan Dugtrio as having long flowing hair, medium wavy hair, and short straight hair in order of descending head height.

Diglett's head measures at 8 inches in height and is estimated to weight at around 1.8 pounds. Dugtrio's heads measure from 9 inches up to 2 feet and four inches, with their heads being roughly 73 pounds in weight altogether. The Alolan variant is no different in terms of height, but the added weight of their hair has increased their weight to 2 pounds and 146.8 pounds respectively.

Notable Biology

Both Diglett lines possess skulls and scalps that some compare to the hardness of rock or steel, which they use to tunnel through the earth at incredible speeds to equally incredible depths. While some do exaggerate that they can burrow to a depth of 60 miles beneath the earth’s crust, which is impossible since the crust is only 25 miles thick, the mere existence of Diglett's Tunnel in Alola and Diglett's Cave in Kanto does offer some credence to the digging capability to Diglett and Dugtrio. They can also pull in their heads at even more incredible speeds if need be, though some exaggerate they can do so at the speed of light, which has yet to be proven capable by any non-Legendary Pokémon.

The epidermal layer of their skin from the neck down is dangerously thin, providing little to no protection from sunlight, microbes, pollen, or dust. Because of this, they only fully surface when they need to fend off predators. Their determination towards hiding their true bodies is at the point where they carry rocks into the air with them when performing the Z-Move Supersonic Skystrike.

Despite popular assumption that Dugtrio is one Pokémon with three heads, it's actually three Diglett that work together as one singular unit. DNA analysis shows that they are the result of one Diglett dividing itself into three individuals. Because of this, each head behaves in a near-identical fashion to the original.

The Alolan variant's hair allows them to dig through bedrock and tough soil, but it also causes some drag due to its weight and due to the hair getting caught on roots, rocks, etc. Some researchers believe that the toughness of Alola's volcanic soil, along with a mineral-rich diet, spurred on the development of the Alolan variant's signature golden hair. Others believe that they acquired this hair from their constant digging, with more and more strands getting caught on their scalps over time. According to researchers, the unique mineral composition for each triplet is what causes the different hair lengths.

There exist four subdivisions of the lines in total. One is able to camouflage themselves within sandstorms as a means of escaping predators. The other appears to enter a sort of heightened state of battle awareness when a sandstorm occurs. While both subdivisions exist in both lines, the latter is much rarer than the former. Another subdivision is exclusive to the standard variant. This one appears to have developed some repute as natural-born trappers, as some travelers report to have fallen into pits dug out by Diglett and Dugtrio, with little to no means of escape for them or their Pokémon. The last one is exclusive to the Alolan variant. This subdivision has developed a means of utilizing their hair similarly to bolos. Whenever contact is made with this subdivision, they use this as an opportunity to wrap some of their hair around the attacker's legs, wings, etc. to slow them down.

Habitat

Diglett and Dugtrio prefer to live in vast tunnel networks underground. However, sightings have been made in dark places such as Diglett's Cave in Kanto or the Verdant Cavern in Alola along with deserts such as Vast Poni Canyon or the Lumiose Badlands in Kalos.

Diet

Both lines feed off of various plant roots as well as some Bug-Types, namely ones that dwell on the ground, such as Venonat or Nincada. Some members don't actively hunt, though, usually preferring to consume whatever falls into their arena traps.

Hazards

One must approach a Diglett or a Dugtrio with caution. When provoked or frightened, they can strike an opponent with lightning-fast speed. Numerous deaths have been reported involving Diglett or Dugtrio either ramming into a Trainer's ribcage or outright decapitation.

If caught in a Diglett or Dugtrio trap, stay calm. Flailing about will cause the ground to shift, thus causing you to sink into the ground even faster. Just call out your Pokémon and have them pull you out instead, especially if they know moves like Teleport or Vine Whip.

When caring for a member of the Alolan variation, one must be sure to wear specially made gloves, especially if it's an Alolan Dugtrio. Because the texture of their hair has been compared to steel wool, reckless handling of the hair could lead to laceration on the hands that may require surgery.

Courting and Childrearing

Diglett are capable of breeding sexually, but they also display a unique case of asexual reproduction as well, which explains it evolution into Dugtrio.

While Diglett are young, their parents care for them until they reach a point in their lives where they can dig and forage on their own.

Social Structure

Diglett and Dugtrio are mostly solitary, though some will share networks on a few odd occasions. Otherwise, they'll engage in territorial wars that has lead to tremors people often mistake for earthquakes that only last for a few minutes at the longest.

In Human Culture

Farmers have been known to train Diglett and Dugtrio as a means of tilling the ground to help them grow crops. They still refuse to show them their true bodies, however.

According to Professor Eve, the people of the ancient city of Pokémopolis believed that Diglett and Dugtrio were avatars for earth spirits inhabiting the earth itself, granting life wherever they wandered. While these theories are still undergoing scrutiny, the fact that Alolan Diglett and Dugtrio are able to not only utilize the strands of volcanic glass on their heads as whiskers but grow them as well does provide at least a modicum of evidence to that theory.

The people of Alola view Alolan Diglett and Dugtrio's hair as a mark of heraldry in the name of a volcano goddess in the region. Because of this, it is viewed as a bad omen to claim a Diglett or a Dugtrio's hair for your own.

Scorbunny Line is done:

Scorbunny Line

Morphs [Oak Catalog #]

  • Scorbunny [813]
  • Raboot [814]
  • Cinderace [815]

Notable Biology

The Scorbunny line are three species of Pokémon that are rabbit-like in appearance and bipedal.

Scorbunny has mainly white fur, with orange and yellow markings in certain areas.

Raboot largely has orange, gray and black fur all over its body. The color patterns resemble trainer outfits worn by athletes.

Cinderace has orange, yellow, dark blue and yellow fur in different areas of its body.

Cinderace is the only known Pokémon capable of using the the move Pyro Ball and Court Change.

The majority of these specimen have the ability to power up their fire-based moves when health is low. Rarely will one come across a specimen that can change all its moves to Fire type moves.

As with other Pokémon, the Scorbunny line has alternate-colored forms caused by mutant phenotypes that are highly sought by collectors.

Habitat

These Pokémon can be found all over Galar, but because Scorbunny is a starter Pokémon, it is illegal to capture any specimen in the wild. Doing so results in a hefty fine. A number of people still do so anyway, the fine be damned.

For those who want a Scorbunny or evolved form without getting one from the professor, these Pokemon are also sold in pet stores, often to people uncomfortable with battling. These Pokémon need to be cared for with caution, as they are Fire-types, a type which comes with a lot of hazards.

Diet

The Scorbunny line are herbivores, eating berries, leaves, stems and other vegetation.

Like other Pokémon based on lagomorphs and rodents, members of the Scorbunny line eat their own droppings to gain nutrients not absorbed in the first digestion process.

This is done by both wild specimen and those in captivity. A young child owning one as a pet might be disgusted by seeing it happen the first time, but over time they will get used to it.

Hazards

As Fire-types, these Pokémon must be handled with caution. Sometimes a specimen will use its fire to heat food it is about to eat, but this can be dangerous and start a house fire.

Cinderace is the most dangerous. It can essentially turn any object into a flaming soccer ball when it kicks the object. It is best for this stage to practice this technique outside, but even that comes with hazards.

Courting and Childrearing

Though all stages can breed in captivity, only Raboot and Cinderace breed in the wild.

More dominant bucks breed with multiple females, while lower-status males are monogamous. The vast majority (7 out of 8) of specimen in this line are males.

Shortly before giving birth, the doe digs a den. She gives birth to about 3-7 Scorbunny kits, who are born, blind, deaf, and without fur. The ears don't begin to move until day 10, and eyes open a day later. The kits nurse for 21-25 days. At 18 days they begin to leave the burrow.

In captivity, eggs are laid, but even so, Scorbunny are unlikely to breed, due largely to its age compared to other stages in this line.

Social Structure

These Pokémon live in warrens that contain 2-10 other individuals living in smaller groups to ensure greater breeding success.

As these Pokémon reproduce rather frequently, there lies the problem of these Pokémon overtaking a habitat. This is largely prevented by the fact that carnivorous Pokémon view the Scorbunny line as prey, keeping the numbers from growing too big.

So is Cufant line:

Cufant Line

Morphs [Oak Catalog #]

  • Cufant [878]
  • Copperajah [879]

Notable Biology

Cufant and Copperajah are two pachydermic Pokémon native to Galar.

Cufant is a small calf, topping off at 1.2 m and 100 kg, with a spoon/shovel-shaped tip at the end of its trunk, which is used to dig. Each of its legs has a single anterior nail. Cufant has a bulbous dome atop its head and a short bobtail. It is largely colored tangerine or copper, but it has some green patches where rain has tarnished the copper.

The adult form, Copperajah, topping out at 3 m and 650 kg in its normal form. has a trunk tip shaped like the digging bucket of a backhoe, which is used for digging as well. Normal Copperajah is largely green thanks to much exposure to rain, though it retains some orange spots. Not much is known about the Gigantamax form at this moment.

Most specimen of this line remove additional effects from certain moves in order to increase their power. Rare are specimen which have a genetic condition that doubles their weight, a condition several other Steel-types occasionally have.

As with other Pokémon, the Cufant line has rare alternate-colored forms caused by mutant phenotypes that are sought by collectors.

Habitat

Cufant are legal to capture at Bridge Field, and Copperajah at Hammerlocke Hills and Lake of Outrage. It is not wise to capture a Cufant which is still nursing from its mother (see below).

Cufant and Copperajah are also found at Pokémon zoos in Galar.

Diet

These Pokémon are primarily herbivores, consuming grass, bamboo, bark of certain flowering plants, and fruits.

Many attempt to feed captive Cufant and Copperajah peanuts, like at zoos and circuses. This is not advisable, for it could cause digestive problems.

Hazards

Copperajah's greatest liability may be its weight. Many have been crushed or trampled by these Pokémon.

A mother Copperajah will not take the capture of her calf well if it is still nursing from her. These specimen will generally charge at people who capture her calf or attempt to do so.

For this reason it is advised that all captures of Cufant are of specimen who are old enough to be independent.

However, Copperajah don't normally attack a human in the wild under other circumstances.

Courting and Childrearing

Both stages reproduce in captivity, where eggs are laid.

As with most other multi-stage evolutionary lines of mammalian Pokémon, only the later stage, in this case Copperajah, breeds in the wild.

Copperajah bulls are able to breed at age 12-15 coinciding with evolution from Cufant. Bulls will often fight one another for the right to breed with a certain cow. Strong fights between bulls are very rare, but they do happen.

Copperajah cows are pregnant for 18-22 months. Usually only a single Cufant calf is born, but on rare occasions, twins are born. The calf is generally fully developed by the 19th month of pregnancy, but stays in the womb to grow so that it can reach its mother to feed.

Calves nurse for up to three years, upon weaning, the cow is able to breed again. This results in a five-year interval between births. Females are allowed to remain with the herd, but males are chased away.

A Copperajah is considered an adult when it reaches 17 years of age. The life expectancy of a specimen in this line has been exaggerated in the past. Wild specimen live up to 60 years on average, and 80 years in captivity.

Social Structure

Bulls usually live solitary lives after weaning. Cows and calves live together in groups of 6-17. Bulls do also form bachelor groups on occasion, the size of these groups and the age of each bull in the group tend to vary.

In Human Culture

Copeprajah are very popular at circuses.

Pokémon in this line are said to be very intelligent, and never forgetful.

Members of this line are also said to fear certain Pokémon based on rodents, such as Pikachu, mainly because of the huge size difference causing a rodent Pokémon approaching a Copperajah to be a huge surprise.

As well, this line is often used in construction work.

Morpeko too:

Morpeko

Morphs [Oak Catalog #]

  • Morpeko [877]

Notable Biology

Morpeko, standing .3 m tall and weighing 3 kg, are Pokémon that resemble hamsters and guinea pigs, that can change between two forms every turn in battle.

Both forms include short arms and feet, a pair of pink cheeks, a tiny nose, two almond-shaped ears with a single fur tuft under each, and a primary body color separating two areas of fur which cover the arms, ears, cheeks, and eyes, and zigzag inward towards its face, stopping at the waist line.

When it has a Full Belly, it has cream-colored fur on its body, with sides colored light brown and black. A single bucktooth can be seen protruding from its smiling mouth.

when it is Hangry, Morpeko primarily has purple fur and two sides of black fur. Its eyes become downward-slanting red semi-circles, and its mouth is also constantly formed into an angry snarl.

Habitat

Morpeko are legal to catch on Routes 7 and 9 and at the Lake of Outrage. Many pet stores also sell Morpeko to people who aren't comfortable with using them to battle.

Like other Pokémon sold as pets, Morpeko have dedicated breeding programs. In addition to pet stores these Pokémon can also be purchased at dedicated breeding farms, similar to other Pokémon based on rodents.

Diet

In the wild, Morpeko are omnivores. They not only eat plant matter such as fruit, but also Bug-types. Those kept as pets are given commercial food made especially for them, though they can also be given other items like vegetables, fruits, seeds, and nuts.

Like other Pokémon based on lagomorphs and rodents, Morpeko, both in the wild and in captivity, eat their own droppings to recover nutrients digested in the hindgut, but not absorbed.

This may gross out a first-time owner of a Morpeko at first, but over time they generally get used to it. Note that this only occurs the first time droppings are produced. For the second time, these Pokémon can be trained to use litter boxes.

Hazards

Being part Electric-type, it can shoot out tons of electricity, enough to paralyze a person. It is very dangerous when in Hangry Mode especially. Morpeko in a Hangry mood are generally calmed down by being fed.

A mother Morpeko could attempt to bite someone's fingers get too close to her pups. Pups whose scent has been contaminated by humans are generally eaten by their mother. For this reason, owners of mother Morpeko always wear gloves when handling her pups.

Courting and Childrearing

Morpeko can breed any time of the year. In the wild, a male and female pair that mate go their separate ways after the mating process. Female Morpeko are pregnant for 16-18 days, after which up to seven baby Morpeko, called pups, are born (sometimes litters can be up to double that size).

The pups do not have fur at birth nor can they see. They nurse from their mother for three weeks. At that point, pups born in captivity must be separated from the mother. This is because the mother will attempt to eat her pups if they are not separated from her at three weeks, unlike other rodent Pokémon.

Social Structure

Morpeko in the wild live in groups of many individuals.

Because Morpeko are used to being around others of their kind, it is generally advised that owners of pet Morpeko get more than one, though males may fight each other if not from the same litter.

In contrast, females are more socialable with one another. Unless one is intentionally trying to breed, it is not advisable to put a male and female together.

However, its mood swings limit its popularity as a pet.

[up]There's still a few things your articles need:

  • Perhaps avoid using the word "rabbit" to describe Scorbunny's line. "Lagomorph" and its derivatives are fine.
  • The games and various media imply that starter Pokémon are incredibly rare which generally explains your inability to find them in the wild (even in Gen 7, Island Scan can only find one individual at a time, and starters only on certain days, where they are otherwise not included with the regular encounter pools). They'd likely be specially managed and have a smallish breeding stock from which their young, once old enough, are imported to Pokémon labs so that trainers in the lab's town can start their journeys with a Pokémon. If they were all over, I don't know why it'd be illegal to catch only them, and not, say, a Skwovet or Rookidee, which are also common and found (almost) everywhere.

  • For Morpeko, the "Hangry Mode" could perhaps be worded differently, since "mode" seems like sort of a game-y term, which we want to avoid. A little more science-y of an explanation of what happens when you (don't) feed your electric hamster after midnight could be of use, too. Perhaps "when full" and "when hungry", with context-appropriate wording, could suffice in the place of "modes", though I understand Morpeko's form-switching might be tricky to explain if such an approach is taken.
  • A small suggestion: perhaps mention that Morpeko's mood-swings may limit its popularity as a pet.

  • The Cufant line page neglects to mention the construction help that Cufant and Copperajah provide, and that the latter normally has an even temperament (they don't attack you in the wild, unlike other Steel-types such as Bisharp and Steelix). There's also a singular instance of "Copeprajah" as a minor typo.

I find the physical description for Scorbunny and its evolutions rather vague.

Think of it from the perspective of someone who has never seen these Pokemon: if I had never seen a picture of Scorbunny, and all I had to go on was your article's description of what it looked like, I would certainly know what colours it is. But when you say it's "rabbit-like" in appearance and just leave it at that, I don't picture something like Bunnelby or Buneary: I picture an actual, quadrupedal rabbit, instead of a bipedal Pokemon.
