Allow me to make an attempt:

Ladies and gentlemen, I have had a revelation.

Adam's real name is Tom. Major Tom.

Especially with the Outfit, for some reason...

(Haha: "Major Tom Coming Home" just popped up on Unhear It. It knows.)

You do realize that if you equate Adam with David Bowie to me, he is the greatest video game character in existence and Samus has the most restraint in the world for not immediately falling at the sound of his heavenly, deep voice?

...um. Not...that I...have a crush on David Bowie or anything...nooooo...

In actuality, even the men in the game should have bowed to his cock. HIS VOICE! HIS VOICE!

...oh Jareth, you have won me heart and soul...

Replace Adam with William Adama. Doesn't matter what you think of the game, it would still make it way better.

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.

Depending on how you look at it, it could be the Other Metroid, Other Madeline (from how MB pretends to be her), Other Mother Brain (MB, of course), or, even Other Malkovitch (the way Samus', uh, very vague relationship with Adam's brother seems to have influenced her relationship with the man himself)

Grahhhhhhh....my rent just went up this month and a trip to a trade show took my Other M money. I'm going to have to wait on this until December :(

^ =( Bad luck, well, if it makes you feel better, I still don't have Blaz Blue for PC despite waiting it for months because shops don't apparently sell it yet xD

Necro'ing to ask you guys a question: how prevalent are the Metroidvania aspects in Other M? Any exploration or backtracking? Please don't make any statements of quality, I'm just asking an innocuous question about the gameplay.

It's kind of like Fusion. Most of the time plot directs you where you have to go and usually but not always locks the door behind you. There's leeway for a little bit of straying off the path to find a given Missile Expansion or Energy Part or whatever. At the end of the game, though, the ship is entirely open and you can explore as much as you want.

Although every so often there'll be opportunities to explore more or less as you please.

Epilogue excepted, it's almost but not completely linear. At every save point, the map shows you the next area you have to go through. You can explore the rooms on the path, but the game usually locks of areas that you don't need to be in right now, so searching for power-ups is limited to just the areas you're in. They try to compensate for that by adding a feature that shows you where the power-ups are if you kill all enemies in the room, but in practice, that just makes it even more dumbed down.

Perhaps this post would be better off here in this thread:

With all the controversy this game has received for the past two-three months in mind, should I still at least rent this game, or should I just hold off for something much more worthwhile  *

Personally, I'd rent it. What I've played of it, I've mostly enjoyed so far.

Well the game is fun in terms of gameplay if that's what you care about. Your Milage May Vary on the story though and that's causing the vitrol.

I'll third that. The gameplay is definitely fun. Team Ninja did a great job on that.
