Peter Decentbutt has truly brought Brun and Renee closer together. What a classic QC character who will return in 7000 strips having learned an important lesson about not being a tool.

The year is 2030. The entire cast has finished their stories and been replaced by similar characters with different names.

The comic shall never end.

That hasn't already happened once?

But yeah, more than half of what I would consider the core cast over the run of the strip so far has come to the end of their stories, which is why we don't see them much anymore. I saw it happen with Shortpacked, which had literal replacement characters rotate in as, especially Ethan, Amber, and Mike wrapped up their stories long before the strip ended. You can't convince me that Ken isn't just "Asian Ethan".

You know what? He's allowed to have thoughts.

So if Renee is Marten and Brunhilde is Faye, that makes Eliot the Steve? And I suppose that makes Peter the Sara. Look out for rampaging dinosaurs.

I just noticed the text on the bottom: "Dale and Marigold aren't the only trash"

I don't even know what to make of that.

Jeph is jokingly referring to Dale/Marigold/Elliot as trash for their anime fantasies. (Or at least I hope it's a joke.)

There are frequent jokes about Dale and Merigold’s love of trashy anime. I think this is just referencing that, in an oddly aggressive way.

It's a callback to a couple weeks ago, yeah.

Not gonna lie, Nyan!Brun is cute.

Renee is seriously the last person to be allowed to say that, let alone to Elliot.

I’m pretty sure Renee has taken it upon herself to protect Brun from unwanted sexual advances (since Brun often doesn’t notice them), but has come to see her as something of a childlike innocent in that regard and goes more than a bit overboard.

So I can’t wait to see the look on Renee’s face if Brun+Elliot+Clinton becomes a thing.

I mean when you've got a weird niche interest, might as well leverage it.

Damn, assuming the average speed limit between wherever they're at and New York is about 70 mph, dude must have been clocking over 100 the entire way.

That’s not counting the time it had to have taken him to get ready and everything. If anything I’d say he clocked in at at least 130 one way.

I'm curious to know what the reasoning would be behind that first assertion, though.

The clock allowed him to retroactively time-travel, which is why he was so eager to buy it.
