Of course, he was pretty much confirmed a while ago. The real mystery is who the next character is: Female newcomer from the newer half of the series.
Edit: Ugh, I just realized I've only played the game like once since Vayne came out. Stupid work schedule and other games distracting me.

I'm thinking its going to be Serah, we have two male characters left and I think Zenos and Ardyn are a pretty good bet, and the veteran is probably Prishe. That way each of the main series titles will have at least two characters.

Thats what my guesses are as well. I'd have to double check to be certain, but I think the tentative release window for Episode: Ardyn lines up with the last character's release; giving the slot to Ardyn would be good cross promotion for both games.

Serah also seems likely since this upcoming female is likely to be a Marksman since Vayne was a Vanguard and Locke an Assassin.
Of course it could be Vanille, but Y'shtola already has the debuff oriented mage market fairly cornered.

I guess this means she’ll finally have full-body official art. Crossover spinoffs aside, no one did for the original game except Squall and it’s annoying. I’m not a huge fan of VIII, so I’m not likely to draw the characters anytime soon, but it still bugged me anyway.

So we have Vayne, who was "the male villain from the newer half", Locke, who was "the new male character from the older half", and Rinoa, who's "the new female character from the newer half"...who were the other three again?

Next is new male from second half, then a returning female from the second half and then another new male from the second half.
Also one of the new boys is from XIII.
So getting Eald'narche, Snow and Yuna seems probable.

Well Vayne was the first dlc character, so Balthier is probably off the table for quite some time, and Ardyn probably being held back forwhen Episode Ardyn releases (I’m guessing the same is true for Tifa and VII Remake)
