Oh shit oh shit oh shit this is AWESOME we are gonna get some killer stuff out of this thing.

I would never have guessed the guy that made that Darker and Edgier Power/Rangers short would be so good at adapting stuff. Guess as long as the series already has gore we're good. XD

And yeah, I doubt a Castlevania/Devil May Cry crossover will happen out of this and I doubt it'd be as easy as them just making a quick conference call but it's also something that could happen now potentially and I am HERE for that.

Well, looks like one of my wishes came true for once.

The idea of replaceable arms for Nero is pretty neat, though I'm gonna miss the long distance grab… And that Megaman arm.

Oh, Snatch is something that Nero has no matter what arm he has, it's now called Wire Snatch. Buster is one of the Devil Breaker arms, so it's not a universal mechanic anymore. And honestly, it might have helped make the enemies designed better for the other characters.

Wow, a new animation series. Maybe I should buy that DMC collection to properly get into series

So I finally got around to finishing Vergil's Downfall, and... I guess Vergil plays fine in it. I like his teleport Summoned Swords, and it's neat to see it transition into DMC 4 SE. I like how his weapon has modes, his sword plant explosion and him having actual ranged skill and cool stuff with his Summoned Swords variants. But it doesn't come together. For one his damage output sucks. Maybe I didn't get enough damage upgrades, but that just highlights how bad an idea it is to have flat damage upgrades. I don't want to just raise numbers when I could get new skills. Rapid Slash just outright sucks, and it still feels like the game focuses way too much on power attacks. Also, the enemies just feel unfun to fight in general, especially the Wisps.

Storywise, it does nothing for Vergil's character. His Dm C incarnation still sucks. At the end of the day, he's a power hungry asshole who abandoned his family because he was jealous. Old Vergil had more going on with how he was never jealous of Dante (Since he genuinely was a better fighter) and still clearly loved his mother. I also interpreted him as admiring the legend of his father, rather than the man he was. Talking about his legacy alot in 3 while Dante initially blew off his father, citing his father when he goes off to fight Mundus and proudly saying how Fortuna will experience the blood of Sparda when he conceives Nero. What doesn't help Dm C Vergil either is that his downfall is laughably presented, from the poor animated cutscenes, to the weak dialogue and voice acting, to how bad Eva's model looks, and how goofy his hollow form is.

Anyway, in other news, we got some new footage of the Faust Hat, revealing that it has a Nie R Automata esc Pod function. And more details on Cerberus. It uses the basic DMC 3 Cerberus attacks by default, becomes the lighting Kurigasama during I believe pause combos or special moves and the fire staff is for Swordmaster.

Its an amusing thought to know that Itsuno wanted to make a sequel to Dm C before making 5.

Oh the what-ifs, if nothing else it might have had better game-play than the first one.

And to think some people argue that Dm C Vergil was a good character or even better than the original.

He didn't. I know those articles say he did, but that's taking them out of context. It seems he was more interested in Dm C 2 than wanting to do it over DMC 5, if that makes sense.

Oh well it still sorta counts at least.

Jeeez imagine the reaction if he actually did follow through with that interest.

My opinion could change when I watch the Best Friends LP get to the DLC, but I thought Vergil's Downfall was an improvement over the base game in almost every way, especially the voice acting. Granted this was way back during the vanilla release, long before the DE was even hinted at. I can appreciate what they were trying to do with Vergil, having his lust for power being a cover up for severe mental issues, even if the execution was just as awful as the rest of the games story looking back.

The Best Friends LP of Dm C is one of the best they've ever done. They do dunk on the game quite a bit, but they go into the history behind it from Pat and Woolie's perspective and they give the game credit where credit is due.

Eh, they can still be pretty unfair about some things.

So we have an update on Subhuman. The vocals are being replaced, but the instrumentation is staying the same. I hope they can at least clean up the audio balance. The lyrics seem like they're staying the same, which is... Unfortunate... But apparently it's the best they can do, since I saw a Discord post where Matt Walker explained they lacked resources to get a new song.
