Its not not cancelled, but its in development hell
New theme music also a boxI'd argue they took a significant step getting it out of Development Hell.

What? The devs were fired, that's a profoundly unusual step that does not occur if development is going in a productive direction.
"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -HylarnYes, they fired the developers because the developers threw out all of the sidequest content already made by Avellone and Mitsoda. More or less a third of the game. Which caused it not to be able to be finished for another year. Hardsuit Labs royally screwed the pooch and they rightfully realized it.
The new developers they've hired are also working from the old material.

Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters. How is the Unofficial Mod doing these days?
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Version 10.9 was released in August.
Last I heard the guy was adding more of his ideas and messing it up. That still happening?
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Bloodlines 2 is still going, that's still all we're getting on it for now.
Good to know, but I have a feeling they're going to keep repeating that assurance a lot from now on
New theme music also a boxWouldn't be surprised, but I'm kinda happy it's even still alive at this point.
Paradox refusing to name the developers doesn't really do much to cure my already considerable skepticism at the game's chances.
I guess it's interesting to hear that it's still being developed, if that's true I look forward to reading the post-mortem if/when it releases.
"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -HylarnI disagree on that front. Keeping the devs secret means they don't have to worry about PR and getting hounded with questions and can just focus on the game, and then ideally we get the announcement 6 months before release. Let them avoid the traps with Cyberpunk 2077, Fable, and the original Bloodlines 2 where we get all these promises in pre-release hype that never materialise.

That's actually the reasoning they give in the article: they don't want the new devs bombarded with questions from fans/press.
The author speculates that it could be Harebrained Games.
I wouldn't mind Harebrained since I enjoyed their Shadowrun games, but it's a different type of game then they've done before. Obsidian would be the dream but they've got their own game they're working on right now.
,Fair enough, I suppose that makes sense.
"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -HylarnHyping it up with all the big names definitely didn't help, I could see keeping things more low key being beneficial.
Yeah they did seem to run into rotten luck with who they hyped up. Some couldn't deliver, one was a serial sexual harasser, the original Bloodlines 2 looks like a perfect example of the risks of announcing too far in advance and trusting an untested studio with a big hype release.
Obsidian is also owned by Microsoft now.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters. What is the Plus Patch?
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Additional content, including cut locations being remodelled and several abilities readded
New theme music also a boxEh, personally i'm just happy it's still progressing.
I started thinking about the possibility of missions set in day-time, where the player has to avoid sunlight and the dizziness caused by being awake at the wrong time. Maybe they have been caught somewhere and have to escape before night?
Some thin-bloods are daylight tolerant, so other than being unable to use disciplines, you could have a good No-Gear Level setup.
Like assassinating a full-blood vampire by infiltrating their hideout during the day when they're inert and only having to deal with their human buddies.
Health sure is versatile. It's possible to be both light-headed and dim-witted. At the same time, no less.I was thinking of something where the player is old enough to risk getting fried if exposed to sunlight. So I'm picturing a scenario where you have to crouch and crawl to avoid spots that allow direct sunlight to come in, like holes in the wall or something similar.
Honestly at this point I'm just relieved that they aren't cancelling it. Small consolation, yes, but after the mess that happened, I take any good new I can get.
