Watch Wakaba's research being funded by Kirijo group be the actual backstory behind Persona 5 Cooking and a hidden part of her research is hidden in Sojiro's curry recipe.

Wakaba working with the Kirijo's would be some ultimate keikaku lore stuff.

I could see it as possibly happen as a way to tie up the Katsura Hoshino era of the series, now that he's gone and we'll be getting someone else in his place for P6 as director.

Even if it doesn't happen, I still find it a plausible idea for the series.

Ya know, I still haven't played Persona 5(because I don't own console it is on :p) but I'm kinda bothered by the knowledge that Hifumi could have been party member originally. I mean, like, it makes me wonder what the original version of the character would have been like? And makes me sad because the non party member confidant version is awesome soon so it feels like it would have been cool if she had been party member

I imagine she'd be too similar to Yusuke or Haru, honestly.

Hifumi strikes me as someone who WAY gets wrapped up in the RP and Chuuni aspects of anything she does. And honestly would have been a great comic relief character with over elaborate plans and wanting everyone to really act the part.

Makoto would have likely more played the straight man to her but they could actually work well together when Makoto gets Hifumi to focus.

The whole thing about Hifumi being a party member from what I understand is a bit lost in translation. Apparently she's just one of the concept designs for the main cast they came up with (Makoto iirc) and decided they wanted to keep the design and create a new character around it separate from the main party rather than throw the design away.

Even if Hifumi had become a party member, she would have been a totally different character, not shogi-player-with-abusive-mom Hifumi.

Well that answers that.

If Hifumi did become a playable character she wouldn’t even be Hifumi, she would have been Makoto instead.

We’d actually be down a character especially since Hifumi’s character was built upon her design so if Hifumi was instead used as she was originally intended for Makoto then they would have had to have made a completely new & unrelated character that as said wouldn't be shogi-player-with-abusive-mom for her social link

Hmm, I was under understanding that Hifumi's personality yeah didn't exist, but Makoto's and Hifumi's designs themselves were for different party members and Makoto got Hifumi's role when they decided one less party member?

An Abusive mom would still potentially be a thing for a playable Hifumi I feel. Even if it wasn't shogi related.

Wanting to play Persona 4 Golden, but lacking a Vita or PSTV. Am I better off settling for the original or just giving up?

The remake has a new character and some additional story scenes, but aside from the content exclusive to said new character, you're not missing much.

You can get Persona 4 for $10 on PSN, but for some reason it's only available on PS3, not PS4. Physical PS2 copies run about $20-25 in my experience, so that might be your best bet depending on what consoles you have. P4 Golden is only available on Vita, and is $20 digitally or about $30 for a physical copy.

Also not sure about the Vita, but for a PSTV a digital copy is just under 4 GB, so you need a memory card too.

Even if you were to go for the less then legal route of emulation, it wouldn’t matter. Since the Vita doesn’t have an emulator for it.

Watching a youtuber who's lamenting that Persona 5 basically killed ALTUS's interest in the Shin Megami Tensei series as well as other dead franchises that they're left handing in favor of anything related to Persona 3-5. ... coming from an outsider perspective, he's acting kind of spoiled. Also, using Persona 5 music in teh background of your video isn't exactly supporting your argument.

Considering how many spinoffs each specific persona game has been getting since P4? Not really. Most of the SMT teams like the one that worked on De Su 1-2 and TMS are gone and they work on the Purrsona spinoffs now.

But I also think people take for granted how long games are in production.

The SMT fanbase has been angry and childish about Persona since it became the more well-known and pushed series.
