Swirly eyes (Hypnotic Eyes) and eyes that mind-control people.
-edit- Got the first one (sorta) and missed the second one. Second one is in dire need of a rename.

Eyes used for hypnotism VS. Eyes used for mind control?
...First right second wrong, the eyes of someone who is mind controlled.
My question, so?
If the second name is hard to make out, then it should be renamed to make it clear.
Even something as simple as Mind Control Victim Eyes.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Hypnotic Eyes->eyes that hypnotize people
Mind-Control Eyes->eyes of somebody being mind controlled.
Switching the second for Mind Controlled Eyes would likely help.
Fight smart, not fair.I think Mind Controlled Eyes would be better than that, though I don't see why they need to be renamed in the first place really.

The simple solution would be just changing it to Mind Controlled Eyes
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickHmm. I'm going to guess that Hypnotic Eyes is being able to impose hynosis or mind control simply with your eyes, and Mind-Control Eyes is the convention of giving a character swirly-eyes to indicate that they are currently is under mind-control or hypnosis.
Huh. I was right on Hypnotic Eyes and sort of right on Mind-Control Eyes, although it's written as only including one anime-specific typeof eyes-that-indicate-mind-control, and it should include swirly-eyes in the description, since that doesn't have its own page.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Anyway, I support a change to Mind Controlled Eyes.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.It's an easy change, much clearer, and wouldn't be too hard to fix the wicks.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickActually, I was also thinking of that as a possible rename before I even started this thread.

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Yeah, Mind Controlled Eyes will solve the potential for confusion.
+1 for Mind Controled Eyes. It's pretty much just a grammar fix so there shouldn't be a serious reason to oppose it.

Plus we could even make an I Thought It Meant: It does not mean only your eyes are brainwashed, and the rest of you is fine.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Would Mind-Control Eyes be redirected to Hypnotic Eyes or Mind Controlled Eyes?
Fight smart, not fair. The later per usual procedure unless someone comes up with a convincing reason not to.
Just make Mind-Control Eyes into Blank Eyes, since the trope is actually about the eyes and not the circumstances that lead to them.
I guess it is.If that's what it is, regardless of mind control, then the name is really off. Plus then we should split off Mind Controlled Eyes, as eyes of various forms are a trope.
But Blank Eyes could get confused for being more general than the trope is (unless it is and I missed it).

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.I'd say that the current one should go the name Blanked Eyes (to imply that they're not always like that) as a subtrope of Mind Controlled Eyes.
Hypnotic Eyes is fine, can everyone agree on that?
Fight smart, not fair.^Yes.
And I too support Mind Controlled Eyes.
It does not matter who I am. What matters is, who will you become? - motto of Omsk BirdBut Blank Eyes are only one way that Mind Controlled Eyes look. Swirly Eyes are just as likely — moreso in Western works. And we don't have Swilry Eyes — they're lumped into Wingding Eyes with a note to "See also Mindcontol Eyes." which is all about Blank Eyes.
Here's what I think we should do:
- Leave Hypnotic Eyes alone. It's fine as is. Check the wicks for misuse, though, since there may be some that should be Mind Controlled Eyes.
- Rename Mind-Control Eyes to Mind Controlled Eyes and rewrite it to include the western Swirly-eyes as well as the anime Blank Eyes
- Redirect Mind Control Eyes to Mind Controlled Eyes and check all the wicks to be sure they're correct.
- Make two new redirects to Mind Controlled Eyes: Blank Eyes and Swirly Eyes.
Would an image of various ones help? We'd need to do a slight rewrite on Mind-Control Eyes anyway.
Current:
->"Her eyes! My God, what's wrong with her eyes?"
— Shelley, Evil Dead
An anime character who is performing or under the influence of hypnotism or mind control will show this influence in his or her eyes: their irises become dull, flat disks of their base color without any detail, highlights, reflections or even pupils. Obviously heavy eyelids surmount the altered eyes, and sometimes drift into a half-closed position. In other words, a very deep and complicated change that can be replicated by slapping a gradient on it in Photoshop.
This is mostly for the benefit of the audience. While people around the character may note they're "acting a little funny", nobody ever notices the loss of pupils.
In live-action and some forms of animation, the standard signal for mind control or possession is totally black or totally white eyes. In some forms of Western animation, hypnosis is represented by the eyes appearing as swirling spirals. Sometimes it's also represented by changes in the dilation of the pupil; the pupil will either get really small, or really large. 'Another option is to change the way the eyes are focused, such as the dead stare of zombies and the like.
This is the visual indication that mind control is under effect; not to be confused with the eye having this ability in the first place. A rare variation involves severe walleye in both eyes. This is a Shout-Out to a traditional Japanese artistic device: a character performing superhuman feats of swordsmanship (Musashi slicing arrows out of the air... as they're coming at his back) will be depicted as severely cross-eyed, indicating that they are using "inner guidance". Another extremely rare variation is sometimes where the pupil remains the same but the sclera (the white part of the eye) may change color.
It should be noted that in Real Life, hypnotized people's eyes are likely to dilate (i.e. the pupils get a bit bigger.) This is apparently not subtle enough for animation, which prefers to Open the Iris. Also note that some art styles have eyes with less detail than others, and so the eyes may have some of these traits already; this doesn't make them an example of this trope.
This also counts as Fetish Fuel or Nightmare Fuel for some people. Not to be confused with Hypnotic Eyes, which is about people who can hypnotize others just by looking into their eyes.
Suggested new one:

Fight smart, not fair.Could it also include eyes that don't change shape, but the way they are held indicates it, like the wide-eyed zombie look?
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.^I would include it. The point of the trope is that the eyes indicate the person is under Mind Control. But it needs to be obvious, or stated in the work. We don't need the inevitable natter that will happen if we put up unclear examples.
If Swirly Eyes/Blanked Eyes/whatever become so ubiquitous that we have an overabundance of examples—that's when we can concern ourselves with a subtrope split.
Everyone Has An Important Job To DoAdded the badly held option, won't be bolded in final cut. Please, if you have a suggestion, type it up, I'm a horrible writer and tend to use short choppy sentences. If you want something good you'll have to get somebody besides me to do it.

Hypnotic Eyes versus Mind-Control Eyes.
For those of you who don't already know what they are, try to guess which is which before looking.
