Rather long, isn't it?

I think something short and succinct, like "This Is His Fight", or "This Is His Battle" would work better (since this is a fighting trope, and even when not used for fighting, the wording of "this is his fight" could be used just to represent something the character has to work for).

Dunno, is "the name is long" a meaningful objection? Shorter is better, but that doesn't mean long is bad, imo. The suggested alternatives aren't explicitly limited to "by himself", I could recruit you to help with my fight.

edit: Adding redirects to Ptitle pages is tricky. That good?

A title being long isn't by itself an adequate reason for a rename. You would need some evidence that its length is having a negative impact on the trope's use. It's a good reason to make a redirect though, and I think This Is His Fight works well for that. Also: Trope Renaming Guidelines

I wish whoever made this name had gone with Something He Has To Do For Himself so we didn't need a fucking ptitle. Also, I fixed the tag so that it shows up on the page.

This Is His Fight sounds good to me.

It's a Stock Phrase, and is often used in those exact words. Changing it just for the sake of brevity isn't a good idea.

That doesn't work. This Is His Fight is also a stock phrase which means the same thing.

The current title seems a bit too broad. It's only about fights, but it makes me think of a number of other things someone would have to do for themselves. Get their heart broken the first time. Tell someone they love them. It's a stock phrase that's used to refer to anything that you can't do for someone else. Not just fights.

Then I like Deboss' suggestion. Get rid of ptitles when you can.

Well, I've heard "this is his/her fight" used metaphorically about any kind of difficult situation, not just fights.

[up] Exactly; it would work for both, as the current name somewhat does, but it'd also be more succinct.

The trope isn't about both though. It's just about fights. The trope seems closer to Duel Boss than anything.

Well, if it is about fights, then This Is His Fight would work better.

I wold prefer This Is Their Fight, myself. This doesn't need to be exclusively male, and I like it better when the name doesn't imply that it is one-gendered.

My problem with This Is Their Problem is that it sounds plural, which leads into Not My Problem.

[up] Mmm, good point. My suggestion was This Is Their Fight, though, not This Is Their Problem. I think you meant "This Is Their Fight sounds like This Is Their Problem..."

We could probably think of better names for every trope. But is this name really so bad that a rename, not a redirect, but a rename is needed?

This Is Something He's Got To Do Himself found in: 146 articles, excluding discussions.

This title has brought 90 people to the wiki from non-search engine links since 20th FEB '09.

You'd think it'd have better wickage than this.

146 articles is pretty good. And it's a ptitle, so that doesn't include any of the times it was linked to with the tilde markup.

132 is the rudest number.

It's good for a less common trope, this is one of those tropes that shows up all over the place.

As long as this trope is talking about fighting, saying "This Is His Fight" makes it more obvious that it's battle-related as opposed to "Something He's Got To Do".
