Meryem has wings now, but his aura doesn't seem to have gotten bigger.
Currently taking a break from the site. See my user page for more information.Okay, new guess for how this is going to play out.
Pouf (or is it Youpi? I get their names mixed up) will attempt to kill Komugi, and will either succeed or, more likely, fail and injure her. Meryem will get his memories back and regard this as a betrayal, leading him to kill Pouf, and further destabilizing his conviction that the Chimaera ants are fit to rule over humans.
...eventually, we will reach a maximum entropy state where nobody has their own socks or underwear, or knows who to ask to get them back.Ok... I think I'm going to drop the spoiler tags now.
It seems to me that at this point, Pufu is the only real bad guy left. If he wasn't there messing with Meryem's ideals and making him think of all humans as enemies, I feel things could be resolved peacefully; without any further bloodshed.
Also, we have the confrontation between Gon and Pitou. I really don't know how that's going to play out.
"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."Ultimately, I think Meryem is either going to have to die or Ascend to a Higher Plane of Existence, because he's much Too Cool to Live.
...eventually, we will reach a maximum entropy state where nobody has their own socks or underwear, or knows who to ask to get them back.More like Too Powerful to Live, I think. But yeah, we can't very well have someone like him just floating around the HXH world.
"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."I can see him stopping being a villain, except that narratively speaking, if that happened, he'd simply be too powerful a presence in the setting. He'd have to be removed in some way.
...eventually, we will reach a maximum entropy state where nobody has their own socks or underwear, or knows who to ask to get them back.Indeed. Maybe as a result of...whatever Pouf and Yupi just did, he'll die if they do?
Currently taking a break from the site. See my user page for more information.Y'know, if it weren't for the fact that he's far too powerful for the setting, I think I would like Meryem. His design, personality, development and concept are all cool, but he just breaks the power scale too badly for me to accept that.
The Royal guards are a little overpowered too, but at least they can exist without derailing the entire story to be about them.
"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."I wouldn't call the Royal Guards overpowered. They have more raw power than any individual human, but it's easy to see how they could be defeated by cooperation between a sufficient number of strong humans. Meryem might have been defeated by Netero and one of two of the other best fighters in the world, but it's a bit late for that now.
...eventually, we will reach a maximum entropy state where nobody has their own socks or underwear, or knows who to ask to get them back. That's kind of what I mean. They're overpowered, but not so overpowered as to make them unbeatable. That's why I can accept them. Meryem, on the other hand...
I mean, one would except the likes of Netero, Zeno, Gin and Kokoro Lucifer to be overpowered. Their narrative role all but demands it. Meryem is just a glorified arc villain who's far stronger than he has any right to be. It's a real shame, too. He would have been really cool if it was possible to put him in danger.

"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."He has been endangered, briefly. I think this arc will most likely somehow end in his death, but it's not really clear how at this point. I don't think that he's so powerful yet that no humans in the world could defeat him by working in tandem, but an ending where The Cavalry Arrives would be both unlikely and unsatisfying.
...eventually, we will reach a maximum entropy state where nobody has their own socks or underwear, or knows who to ask to get them back.I really hope this series reaches an actual conclusion and isn't just dropped.

Or the author doesn't just go screwball on us... again *cough*Yu Yu Hakusho*cough*
http://lockescans.blogspot.com - My Air Master scanlation project@Locke: How was YYH screwball?
Heaven doesn't want me, and Hell's afraid I'll take over. The end of the manga was rather disjointed - the several big fights at the end happen off panel, and out of nowhere Koenma Sr. is the big bad. I don't really have a problem so much with the ending of YYH, more that it should've taken like 50 chapters to get there instead of like 3.
http://lockescans.blogspot.com - My Air Master scanlation projectI actually kind of saw Big Bad!Enma from a mile away- seeing as he was hinted to be Lawful Stupid from the beginning. (The spankings? The way Koenma was afraid of him even if Koenma did something right but not entirely what his father would consider lawful? Hello?)
Now, back on track...
I KNEW Togashi was going to go with the one-sided Pouf—>King Ho Yay thing.
Heaven doesn't want me, and Hell's afraid I'll take over.Wasn't that obvious from the beginning? When he had turned on the Water Works about betraying the king?
Yeah, Togashi isn't terribly subtle about those sorts of things.
Heaven doesn't want me, and Hell's afraid I'll take over.[1] new chapter out. merym seems more forgiving this time around
Does "Our bodies and souls are connected" mean that all three of them die if one does?
Currently taking a break from the site. See my user page for more information.^Probably not. It's more that parts of Yupi and Pufu are inside Meryem then any kind of synthesis. It's vaguely possible that Meryem now functions as a Soul Jar for the other two, but that's all.

Pages 2-3 are a brilliant way of conveying how desperate and complicated Gon's thoughts right now are. I wish more shonen had this kind of psychological insight.

New chapter!
Pufu and Yupi are alive but severely weakened, and Meryem no memory of anything that happened before he was nuked, though his memories do seem to be coming back quickly. I must say, this turn of events makes things a lot more acceptable. Also, it occurs to me that Pufu is the only one who really has any interest in continuing the battle, but he's probably able to convince Meryem and Yupi to fight.
