Does anybody have a link to that interview that talks about how a lot of the Neptunia fanbase are female? I believe it, I've just heard it talked about while never reading it myself.
We now have some big news.
https://www.siliconera.com/first-neptunia-ps5-game-revealed-by-compile-heart/
Compile Heart has announced that the a new game will be released on the PS 5. The game will be called Go! Go! 5D Game: Neptune re★Verse. There should be a star between re and Verse. There is currently no release date for this game yet. More news will be revealed in September.
The last game to come out was the third person shooter and action hybrid game called Neptunia Virtual Stars. That is the English title if I remember correctly. Anyway, this game came out not too long ago in Japan for the PS 4, and it will come out to the West next year. There are more projects in the works.
Also, the third official character poll will be held soon. The last poll was back in 2014. To help celebrate the 10th anniversary of this franchise, Compile Heart has put up a page on it's website that also has comments from people and companies who have worked on the franchise. Idea Facotory International is also holding an English digital event at 10 am PDT to help celebrate the anniversary.
So I’ve been playing VII’s Switch port. I’ve gotten farther than I ever got on PS 4. I’m still in Zero Dimension but I’m in the dungeon after the Planeptune interlude.
I think I need to level grind.
it kinda irks me that the third person shooter game appears to lack Uni. Also I assume that their first game for the new generation is a spin-off? I also hope that there will be a Switch version. If only so that the west doesn’t get only a censored version.

You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!IF International's been good about announcing PC ports, and those are always the prefered versions with frame rate and censorship. So no worries there.
Really feel like a new main series soon, so hoping this new game will maybe be that - doesn't seem like anything about it has been revealed aside from the title?
Also kinda hoping for a Switch version if only so I don't have to buy a new console quite yet (of course, that also depends on what other PS5 games get released...) PC versions are nice and all but I've always preferred console gaming. (As for the censorship part, I... just don't care much about that one way or the other? Yeah, a lot of the time it's unnecessary and I get why people would be against it just on principle, but it also doesn't affect my gameplay experience if a fanservicey scene/outfit is a bit more covered up, so it's not a huge deal to me)
On another note, anyone tried Super Neptunia RPG? I only barely started it last year but never got back to it (was considering getting back to it later though), but from what I've seen and heard it was overall considered... not that great? plus kinda interesting that it doesn't even have a TVT page yet... Would be interesting to hear opinions
Super Neptunia RPG is...not that great.
Part of it is that it's very obtuse. In that it's unclear what direction you can go on the map due to the map being on a 2D Plane which makes it harder to navigate.
It's certainly one of the weaker games in the series.
I don't particularly like Sony's censorship policy if only because it's applied selectively, but that's for a different topic
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!So deciding to bump this thread:
Two weeks ago tomorrow I got myself a second PS3 because my other one is struggling to read discs, and last week I decided to order one of the original three Neptunia games: Victory.
I'm actually kinda excited that I have the means to play the original PS3 versions even though I do own the Re;Birth versions on Vita.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life! The Hyperdimension Neptunia games have gone through soft reboots and spin-offs galore.
What is the story of the first game? Neptune gets cornered and gets Laser Guided Amnseia. Teams up with some side pieces and through the power of moe complete a series of generic tasks while meeting other, more familiar idol singers and walking video game references. This leads them to Arfoire the Big Bad who they defeat, and all is well?
The next game is just a total re-do where Neptune happens to have a sister who goes on her own wacky adventures.
The game after that is yet another alternate universe where Nep and her maybe friends are gaming and then Nep accidentally Isekai's herself.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Victory is actually in the same timeline as Mk. 2 is. It’s just that Neptune gets sucked into an alternate universe. VII is similar, but this time both Neptune and Nepgear are sucked into a different alternate universe.
Basically, the dimensions are:
- Super Dimension (original game)
- Re;Birth Super Dimension (Re;Birth 1)
- First Hyperdimension (Mk 2, Victory)
- Ultra Dimension (Victory, Re;Birth 3)
- Main Canon Hyperdimension (Re;Birth 2, Re;Birth 3, VII)
The spin-offs can range from probably canon (Producing Perfection, Action Unleashed, 4 Goddesses Online) to obviously an alternate universe (the rest)
But the main canon is Re;Birth 2, Re;Birth 3, and VII.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!Huh. What an entertaining mess of timelines.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).To say nothing of the cast being fully aware they're all video game characters, to the point of Neptune even complaining about the script making her act out of character in Re;birth 3 because the original script required her to be an asshole at some parts.
And in the original PS 3 version of Victory, Nep outright uses Trophy descriptions to apologize to Nepgear.
The characters in this series can give Deadpool a run for his money in the fourth wall breaking department.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life! It's easier to say that this series has No Fourth Wall given how often they break it. Action Unleashed even has them mention Clothing Damage as the game's gimmick and be grumpy about it.
Yep. Both Neptune and Uni straight up call out the devs and the player for it in cutscenes.
Heck, VII has a scene of everyone in a bath house if you get the true ending and Nep straight up calls it end of the game Fanservice.
VII also has Nep referencing every continuity they fight Arfoire and Nepgear says that she is being too meta.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!I was wondering why Action Unleashed seemed familiar. Turns out it was made by the same devs as the Senran Kagura games, which makes Nep's appearance in Peach Beach Splash pretty sensical.
Help me. I can't get it out of my head. That game for all the button mashy nonsense, has some really solid interactions and a lot of kickass original music.
Which also makes sense that they just did a crossover between the two.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!Oh right, the crossover! Which I'll probably get at some point despite not being interested in Senran Kagura
And unrelated, but when I played Virtual Stars earlier this year I noticed the characters were only ever referred to as "Goddesses" and never "CPUs" - are they phasing out the CPU term for the localizations (considering that was made for the localized version in the first place) or is that just a quirk of that game?
"Leftover items still have value!"Virtual Stars was literally translated across the board, I assume it was more for licensing reasons.
Haven’t played Virtual Stars, but since both it and the SK crossover are not dubbed they may just be not bothering to change terms.
I also find it interesting that both these games seem to lack the Candidate’s as far as I can tell so I wonder if they are also phasing out the Candidates due to traditional handheld gaming being dead thanks to the Switch or if it’s just a quirk of how the spin-offs tend to just exclude characters for no reason.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life! They clearly aren't phasing out the Candidates.
In the Senran cross they can appear as those chibis who say stuff to you on the world map, and the other day they posted a teaser for something involving the Candidates that they'll give more details on in a few days.
Virtual Stars is hilarious when it comes to trends. It released so early in the Vtuber space even a lot of Japanese players don't know who they are.
Well that's one way to avoid Were Still Relevant Dammit
I do remember learning of the Chibi forms and seeing that teaser.
It’s just odd that three games in a row lack playable Candidates
I’m not counting Re;Verse as that is a remake of Re;Birth 1.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!
Yeah. You'd have to find a non-carpeted space to work. If you can just get the PS 4 version though, I'd go that route.
