Granted, making a proper challenge mode for Pokemon would probably involve changing basically all the teams and movepools used by the AI. Or at least the Gyms/Evil Team/Rival/E4/Champion teams.
Secret SignatureYeah, that's what BW 2 did. It was great.
Game balance in JRPG's tends to really come down to bosses just having a larger health pool than normal and just beating on it until it dies, unless there's a gimmick involved.
Not to discredit people's complaints or anything, but I'm damn sure this difficulty issue is a fandom specific one, and as mentioned, its not really something anyone outside the fandom (who make up far more of the people who buy these games) has been complaining about.
And honestly, the type of challenge the fandom is asking for is basically having competitive level opponents in the main campaign, which honestly doesn't sound ideal to me. Pokemon's battle system isn't all that complicated I feel get a legitimate challenge unless you don't know anything about it.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Eh, I think SM had a nice enough challenge level without going full Smogon on you.
Secret SignatureI know I can't really provide any proof to back this up, but I always felt like at least some of the difficulty from the earliest generations was due to just how few viable moves there are. Back in the first generation, there were effectively no good moves for types like ghost or bug, Lance's Dragonite could only reliably be hit super effective by ice which a player going in blind would at best have a toss-up chance of picking up a move of, etc. Now we have things like Shadow Ball and Dazzling Gleam, which I guess could be restricted and doing so would make things harder, but that would be the most inorganic way possible of doing that.
SoundCloudGet where you're coming from, but specific complaints from the fandom doesn't necessarily mean the general audience doesn't notice or share it. Besides there has been attempts to address it in some form, but then it comes down to how it was implemented.

βMy ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.βGen 1 is one of the easiest gens if you know what youre doing and even if you dont, a kadabra or alakazam can basically solo the game.

I don't see how going "Have a BW 2 style level curve with the option for other difficulty modes and the option to toggle EXP Share on or off" is asking for every NPC to have a Smogon OU ready team and insanely clever AI.
Though if you wanna go down that route, GF don't *have* to make EV training, I Vs and even Natures and Abilities more accessible each generation or promote the competitive scene. I mean, they don't have to because competitive players only make up a small percentage of the Pokemon playerbase of diehards. I mean, most of the kids and older casual fans would never touch any of the comp elements whatsoever. Shit even a good chunk of the vocal online Pokemon fandom don't touch the comp scene which would make it even less than your supposed 2% caring about having difficulty options.
And yet they do make getting competitive ready Pokemon more accessible each and every generation and do advertise competitive tournaments.

I'm having to learn to pay the priceThe funny thing is that Challenge Mode in BW pretty much made the game easier. You see, this was the same generation that introduced the modern exp mechanics, where you get more exp for beating PokΓ©mon higher level than you, so as you played, the level gaps would eventually fade away anyway.
What's wrong with having challenging content reserved to post game anyway? I still have yet to get a good streak in the isle of armor dojo, and I've been playing for almost 20 years x.x
Changing the subject, we got the "restored" version of the "found footage" video from before
IDK I just find having a mildly/nicely implemented challenging buildup throughout the game more compelling than just doing the same Battle Tower clone over and over again to get a challenge. It feels more natural tbh.
I don't see how asking the game to be less "Breeze through the meat of the game to get to the part you want" is that much of a controversial opinion.

Ah so it WAS Hisuian Zoroa. It looks adorable! Loving the Noh Kitsune look

According to the Japanese website, it's Ghost/Normal type
SoundCloudThe red tipped tail is the big give away btw. It's the only Pokemon that has that.
Huh right after Wolfey did his best type combination video that put that second. Lol.

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Glad to see Gen V getting major love from GF with these regional forms and evolutions.
"Bingo! If two species hate each other, they will wipe each other out on their own."I mean, the line is very frail, with 60/60/60 defenses, but oh boy if it has Illusion. Vanilla Zoroark disguised as something weak to Psychic ate through Ultra Necrozma.
[chuckles in dark type]
New theme music also a boxDoes it seem like a 3rd stage is implied in the vid to anyone else?

Secret SignatureWhat's wrong with Porygon-Z? I like the idea of a corrupted data Pokemon
I'm having to learn to pay the priceIt is an evolution of something with a stat total close to that of Gardevoir, Lucario, Venusaur or the Eeveelutions.
It's time for Evolutions episode 4. This time it's White version.
Actually Pokemon Black is the one where N has Zekrom.
Cool to see even a little bit of the fight b/w Alder and N
Difficulty modes is not something that should be a gimmick. Add them as a standard feature, and the choice of swapping them on the fly.
