TODAY ON SANKAKU COMPLEX: Slow news day. People rediscover that HM 01 CUT can be used to clear away Tall Grass in all games before Gen 4.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls! And in Emerald, the Hyper Cutter ability increases the range of grass you cut with it.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Wait what was the point of that though?
in case you didn't want to fight random battles, you could instead go into the menu, use Cut, take a step forward, go into the menu again, use Cut, take another step forward, and wonder why the hell you were doing this when it didn't even save you any time because of all the menu navigation.
Migrated to Chloe Jessica! Also because Repels exist.
Cute little feature, though.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with? The best part was that in Emerald you needed to Cut the extra-tall grass on certain routes twice to clear it all out.
It's a shame they didn't add in a tiny sidequest that had you do this just to show it off.

The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!I remember doing that as a kid in Red, but that was back when stuff like Missingno was all over and just about every neat trick and gimmick was rooted out in search of more stuff like it. Not surprised they'd remove it in the 3-D games but it's weird that it was cut from Gen 5.
"...cut from Gen 5." I see what you did there.
i suppose it could have a use if you want to grab an item that's near the edge of the tall grass and don't want to waste a repel, but really, it's probably still easier to just run in and grab it.

No... the last game this interaction existed in was Emerald
Was never in OU and he had an steep decline over the years, but he was decent in the tier it was in.
Β‘PONLE QUE DIGA!:"Β‘HUMONGOSAURIO HASTA LA MUERTE!"could probably be improved a bit with a +10 to Atk and Def?
Secret SignatureHe was a decent VGC until the Tapus and Incineroar became a thing.
Where there's life, there's hope.I've never raised a Tyrogue, but I'm thinking getting a Hitmontop instead of a Hitmonlee or Hitmonchan would be difficult.
It's been 3000 yearsβ¦It's a hassle.
A minor hassle involving EV tables.
just feed it the EV raising items then spam rare candies?
Secret SignatureGetting that damn thing was such a pain because there was no way of knowing how to get Tyorgue in Gen II. I think I found it by accident by just exploring Mt. Mortar when I was extremely bored
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.My experience has been that getting anything but a hitmontop is difficult unless you have the right nature or feed it an item to increase stats in the direction you want.
I've never had much problems getting a hitmontop, but what's annoying is being at level 19 and getting a dreaded +2 instead of a + 1 to either attk or def when leveling to 20. Happened to me before and I was not happy about that lol.
I remember Hitmontop being super helpful for me on PWT. It had technician with fake out, low sweep and two other things I forgot. It was legit though.

is there even anything you can do about that? would an EV drink fix it?
Migrated to Chloe Jessica!I think that's what I did, either that or I bred another one and started over lol.
I guess if I needed a Hitmontop for competitive, I'd just leave Tyrogue in the daycare until he hits level 19 and top it off with a Rare Candy.
Eh, adamant Tyrogue with full I Vs and no E Vs has 27 attack and 25 defense at level 20.
You need to leave it in the daycare until level 19, then, give it 4 Irons and a Rare Candy. THEN, reset the defense E Vs and just raise it normally.
Hitmonchan requires 6 Irons for the same approach.
Ah, and seeing Hitmontop is usually Impish, it goes the other way: 4 protein and a rare candy after being daycare'd to level 19.
One thing I always thought was neat is that there are actually random wild Phione in the third Pokemon Ranger game.
