Oh my god Goosebumps. I read these books religiously as a kid. All my Goosebumps books are probably the closest thing to a collection I have. All of them (not including spin offs) include:

  • Don't Go To Sleep, Stay Out of The Basement, Attack of The Mutant, Let's Get Invisible!, Monster Blood III, Phantom of The Auditorium, Egg Monsters From Outer Space, Return of The Mummy, Say Cheese and Die- Again!, Say Cheese and Die!, Deep Trouble, The Curse of The Mummy's Tomb, The Werewolf of Fever Swamp, Legend of The Lost Legend, The Girl Who Cried Monster, Why I'm Afraid of Bees, Vampire Breath, Attack of The Jack-O'-Lanterns, My Best Friend is Invisible, The Ghost Next Door, Deep Trouble II, The Headless Ghost, Bad Hare Day, Night of The Living Dummy, Revenge of The Lawn Gnomes, Welcome to dead House, The Abominable Snowman of Pasadena, A Shocker on Shock Street

I used to have a few more, but I lost them. All of these are in a box I was intending to sell sometime, but I never had the heart to do it. Just looking at the titles fills me with nostalgia.

So how this is going to work is that people request which books I read. I'll read them, and talk about them right in this very thread. I'll delete books from the above list as I read them, so look up there to see which things to request. I'll be updating sporadically, so don't expect some kind of regular daily schedule like I have with my Tactics Ogre LP.

Go ahead, request books below. I'll read them and start talking about them as quick as I can.

Let's Get Invisible!

I hope this is even more entertaining than Blogger Beware.

I loved the books as a kid, and while I got pretty good at guessing the twist endings there were still some that got me good, especially A Night in Terror Tower and A Shocker on Shock Street. The latter also has the awesomely creepy scene where the kids get stuck in a cave with a bunch of worms dropping from the ceiling; definitely do that one next.

Okay, so the in line, just in order of who asked first, are:

  • Let's Get Invisible!
  • A Shocker on Shock Street

Let's see if anyone else requests a book.

Usually, I'm not that big a fan of scaring myself. I can tolerate a few scares if the primary genre is something like comedy or adventure, but if the focus is on horror, I usually stay away. But since I rather enjoy reading your other LB, I think I'll stick around and see how this goes.

As for suggestions, "My Best Friend is Invisible" sounds a bit like a sequel to that first book, so I may as well vote for it.

Trust me, Goosebumps books aren't really scary at all except to maybe some kind of literate toddler.

Indeed. They're more like "The Twilight Zone for kids," really, what with all the twist endings.

Sorry for the delay, I'm writing it up right now. Should be finished by tonight or tomorrow.

How about How I Learned to Fly, if you're in the mood for something different? It's one of the few "non-horror" books in the series, and you probably won't have as much to make fun of about it, but on the other hand, you might find it unironically enjoyable.

Stay Out Of The Basement is the one where the guy turns into a plant, right?
