It is again time for the Game FA Qs Annual Character Battles! Who will reign supreme this year when the dust has settled! Duel nr. 2 in the first round, Alucard vs Magus has already started!

I generally disregard any character battle that gets won repeatedly by Link. I think I'll be rooting for L block.

EDIT: Oh, come on, Edgeworth vs Big Boss? in the first round? It's like they did it on purpose.

I actually correctly picked Cloud as the winner of the second one. It didn't matter, because I don't think any of my other final four picks got past the second round.

The GFAQs character battle is and will continue to be worthless until they change the rules. Which they won't.

*checks* Ah, they returned to the one on one format. Guess that means Link's winning this one with Cloud as runner-up again.

And what rules would that be? It's a self-admitted popularity contest. What other rules besides vote-for-the-character-you-prefer do you need?

Knocking off previous winners would help, if only for variety. Sure, it's a popularity contest, but it's a pointless one: how many more justifications do Link/Cloud fanboys really need?

I guess what annoys me here is the name. Why call it a character battle when what people are really voting for are icons?

Male gaming demographic gets more into it when they imagine it as a battle? Dunno really. <<

They really need to remove the previous winners. Just not having Link and Cloud there would make it so much more unpredictable.

They'd never go through with it even if they wanted to; The Zelda and Final Fantasy Fan Dumb would have a collective outrage.

They had them removed for at least one year. I distinctly recall being annoyed when they but them back in.
